It seems to me (I could be wrong here) that the fees and expenses of college coursework (i.e. books, tuition, etc) can be deducted from your taxes IF the coursework is for the purpose of finding a new job, or changing employment, etc.
Again, I might be wrong, but I'm curious if this is the case. And if so, how does one prove this to the IRS?

If not, does university schooling ever qualify for tax deductability?

Thanks.

I am selling a small guest house due to 'partnership failure'. We gave it two years and it did not work out. Once this is sold, what are our tax liabilities as presumably the value of the property will have incresed a little in 2 years...

Hope you guys can help. I have an interview in a couple of weeks. As part of the interview I have to give a short (5 minutes max.) presentation. The title of the presentation has to be "Planning A Journey", but other than that, i'm free to do whatever.
I want to keep it very simple but make sure the interviews get the message. However, i don't really know what message to give!

i was told to be as creative as i want, so any ideas or tips would be wonderful!

thanks in advance!

My client had a total interest income of Rs 90000 only for A Y 04-05. I have heard there is a circular by the CBDT on this that condones the delay in filing of ITR and enables assessee to claim tax refund even for a time-barred ITR if the amount of refund is less than Rs 10000. Can you please provide me the details?

So this is a long one. My friend and I moved into this apartment about 6 months ago. About a month after she signed a lease, she decided that she couldnt pay rent anymore, so she subletted to this guy she met off of craigslist. She didnt contact the apartment complex about subletting to him when she did this.

Well, as it turned out this guy was very annoying. I cant talk to him about bills without him getting pissy, he has a kid that comes over more often that he said the kid would be coming over, he was late on rent once for like two-three weeks. He has granades and guns in his room, which is really wierd.

Well, I talked to the leasing center about my problem and they said he was an unauthorized guess and he had to get out, or id be evicted.

So, we are wanting to kick this guy out now. My question is basically does it matter the reason if I kick the guy out?

I am being pursued for a small credit card debt from 1998. I heard nothing from the company and have made them no payment since then. I understand that this is covered by the Statute of Limitations as it is over 6 years old. However, the collections agency told me that as I had not informed my creditor that I had moved house, the Statute does not apply. Is this correct or are they trying it on with me? Thanks for your help
