I am an office manager as well. First, ascertain what the general needs in the office are, then prioritize them. Depending on your boss, he/she may have already articulated their needs and wants and the order in which they have priority. But if you work for the remaining 98% of bosses, you may want to take your observations to him/her and ask some questions about the prioritization of tasks. Definitely take some courses on your own in Excel, Word, Access, etc. You may see if your Human Resources department offers any kind of in-house training. Most of all, use your common sense, stay organized, and do your best.
Good luck!

There are courses you can take to learn basic Microsoft Office skills.

Get one of your friend to tutor you.

Also books that would help. Check out your local library or book stores.

Good luck.
