I have a credit card that has given me bad credit since 6 years ago. It has accumulated more finance charges since then and has been sent to a attorney.
I would like to pay it off (or settle), but I do not want it to stay on my report as negative credit that has just been "paid off". I want the entire thing removed. How do I make sure that this happens, and who do I speak with?
The credit card company or the credit report agency?

I have been trying to get Section 8 housing for years but there is such a shortage of vouchers. Since I am on a small fixed income, with two young children, I recently moved to IN. where the cost of living is lower.

My brother offered to help me purchase a house. The mortgage will have to be in his name as my credit is ruined. The house is supposed to be mine. I can work on my credit and will eventually qualify for a mortgage. I will need to pay my brother back the 25% down-payment. In the meantime, I will be living in the house making the mortgage payments. What is the best way for me to protect my interest in the house? Lease option?

Please note: Sec. 8 Housing offers a Home Ownership Program. Though I may have to wait several more years for an opening, I wish to do so as my mortgage payments will be lower; hence less financial struggle.

Each year Mary K holds an annual “PP-Lua at the town’s Pet Restaurant. This includes dinner & spa for the puppies & their owners. The PPLua is catered by Dr. M & will charge all food & bev costs for the pets 10 yrs & under on an AmEx card. This yr Dr M’s catering bill totals $2,000. So MaryK used Dr. M's AMEX card to pay for this portion of the bill. Mary K budgets $12,000 for the event for all costs. Food & bev costs account for 60% of all expenses. MaryK actual expenses came in on budget this yr.
Local corporate sponsors contribute an additional $5,000 to Mary K, the local PetsMart store also agreed to contribute $9,500 this yr. Ticket sales & other revenue items for MaryK were as follows:
Food & Beverage sales: $7,120
Sponsorships: calculate Petsmart contribution
Instructions
(a)Assume a 4% service fee is charged by American Express. Record the entry for the transaction on the restaurant's books for Dr. Miller’s AMEX credit card transaction .
(b)Record the entry that the restaurant will make when it receives payment from American Express.
(c)Is this years Puppy Paradise Lua profitable? What amount of net income or net loss will MaryK’s House record from this event? List out all revenue components … and all expenses … and calculate net income.

If I bought 10 shares of a stock at $10 each, I pay $100 + commissions. If the next day the company pays a dividend of $1, the stock price goes to $9 doesn't it?

When measuring capital gain in selling the stock the next day, do I measure gain from the $10+commissions level or the $9+commissions level?

In otherwords do I have to adjust my base cost for a stock after every dividend distribution so that the capital gains calculation makes sense?

Thanks.
