Considering that I would recieve a refund, would it be possible to add them to next years tax returns if I wasn't able to get it done for any reason?

Ok, here's the thing, I did file for my 2005 tax return, however, they denied it and explained that my mother claimed me so that she would have a nice deduction, which messed my file up. Since I'm already 21, I didn't need her to claim me! So I just said f*ck it. What a dumb broad, she can keep my tax return, but now, I want it back and want to add it for next years.

Keep in mind that if you get your refund, your mother is going to get a bill from the IRS.

They aren't going to let you both benefit from this.

This could cause a problem between you and your mother.

Your mom's your mom, but money is just money. How much is your mom worth to you?

The best advise is to let it go, learn your lesson, and don't let it happen again.

No, you can't do that! You have to file the proper return for the applicable tax year and can only claim the income, deductions, and expemptions for that year. You are never allowed to add it to next year's return!

If you have a refund coming, you have 3 years from the due date of the return to file. The due date for tax year 2005 was April 17, 2006. You have until April 17, 2009 to file that return. There is no penalty for late filing when no tax is due or a refund is due you. However, the IRS will NOT pay interest on the refund when you file late.

All of that said, the IRS will probably be contacting you in a couple of months and asking you why you haven't filed your 2005 return.

Hire an accountant depending on how badly you need to file your return.

But you can always file, most likely you will be penalized and charged interest for filing late, but this is much better than not paying taxes on income.

You must report all income to the IRS unfortunately.

It's never too late...particularly if you are going to get a refund...however, make sure you've filed everything you are supposed to in the past...

Next time just do this stuff on time to avoid the issues.
