He is 18 years old and has Down Syndrome. As we understand it, he will receive money and pay some of it to us (his parents) for room and board. Do we pay income tax on that money, too? Any information anyone has on SSI/Disability payments would be gratefully accepted!

I don't have much to invest, maybe $500.00, but I would like to know the best way to invest this money to get a maximum amount. I plan on leaving it long term or reinvesting it and the interest for atleast 10 years but possible 20 or 30. Would it be a better option to just add this amount to my preexisting IRA or get a CD, or is there another way to go?

I am really worried about retirement and my current job. I can't say that I really care about financial planners. Are there any people who feel the same way. What is the solution? One financial planner told me that 2000 dollars today will only be worth 700 dollars in 20 years. Now that to me is scary. The ups and downs of the stock market make me awfully nervous. I get touchy when it comes to these financial planners but I get touchy when I think that I've got to have 85% of my income to retire too.

I'm looking into moving to Myrtle Beach from NJ. I love the beach and would love to live on the beach. Does anyone know any good websites that have oceanfront apartments for rent? The only oceanfront rentals I can find are just vacation rentals for a week at a time. Or even any apartments that are very close to the beach.

I recently got a letter in the mail from Bankers saying that I owed them over $1,000 in commissions paid but unearned. It says that I am to remit them that amount within 30 days or they will turn me over to a collection agency.
I worked for Banker's (in the field for about a month and a half or so. I quit because I did not like the cold calling, telemarketing, poor lead system, lying and misleading people, and my training was horrible. Now, 3 months later they are wanting money out of me? The letter included a statement that I can barely make sense of. I earned $1,700 in my time there, now they want over $1,000 of it back? That leaves me with about $600 for more than a month! That's not even minimum wage. The statements show the policies that were cancelled or lapsed or whatever, but how can I be sure of that? How do I know that the agent that was training me didn't write them a new policy (illegal) to take my name off of it. The statement also says that I was paid for a policy ......
