My boyfriend's old employer bounced his pay check for working a month. He, in turn, bounced his rent check and other payments that he made thinking the money cleared. When adding up the fees, it came to roughly $5800. They agreed that they owed him the money, then wrote him a check for $3000, asking for more time to pay. It's been 4 months and they haven't paid him yet..so, the check that they originally bounced was for the amount of $2600; he took that check to the bank and cashed it; thus only leaving a balance of $200 more owed to him from them. They just realized it, and are now claiming that it's "fraudulent" as it was already bounced and they're having the bank do an investigation saying he wasn't authorized to cash it. We think it's crap. What do you think?
