Where is a good place to start to gain experience?

I am a medical assistant and I begining to grow tired of the healthcare field. My true interest is in the field of technology. Like in the field of like an electrician or electrical engineering tech ( this is what I have recently changed my major to). So can anyone tell me some good places to start to gain experience from? Especially if there are any people in these fields out there reading my question right now.

maybe u can go to car repairing centres like Canadian Tire or other places.
