I joined a salon on a month to month membership. This is a "pay as you go" agreement, not an EFT. In other words, I didn't sign a contract obligating me to pay a fee every month.
When I signed up with this salon, they took my debit card number so that when I choose to pay a month's worth of membership, they can take it directly from my account.
Well, I decided to cancel my membership. I went to the salon and they told me that I have to call a toll free number, which I learned is for their billing company Affiliated Acceptance Corp. I called three times already, and each time there's a different excuse as to why they can't access my account to cancel it. The person at the salon told me that it shouldn't be a problem, if I don't go in to renew my membership for that month, they aren't supposed to bill my account. But I don't trust them and want to make sure they can't bill me. If I get a different debit card from my bank, can the salon still take money from my account?
