my mother owned a mobilehome in a senior park.I have been her live in caretaker off and on for the last ten years.I have recieved my mail there at that address for that long.when my mother passed away my manager zip tied the mailbox shut and told the postmaster not to let me recieve any of my mail at that address.I inheritted the home and have the registered title in my name. having to file for a change of address and waiting for my checks and bills to catch up with me hurt me financially. Was what he did legal? If not what should i do and what actions should i take?

I would be talking to a lawyer first and possibly the postmaster next, but check with a lawyer.

I believe he CANNOT zip tie the mail box. It may be a federal offense for him to tamper with mail/mailbox. Check with your local post office. you have the option of filing complaint with post office against this person.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I do think tampering with a mailbox is a FEDERAL OFFENSE. That's a pretty big deal that that scum bag did that to you. I would get an attorney.

He is in violation of federal laws by tampering with your mailbox (I believe it's a felony).

If you are the legal owner of the property, then you have all of the rights to the postal delivery at that location.

Have you tried personnaly talking to him? Or have you called your post office..they would surely know if what he did is allowed..my guess is "no" the post box, as in every post box actually is the property of usps...give them a call asap..in the meantime, I would cut the damn thing off...but that's just me =)

You might be able to sue him for damages if
he precluded the usual method of handling probate.
Unfortunately, the cost of doing so may well
exceed any payment from him.
