With the advent of Ken Lay's death, one wonders if we can ever get a handle on corporate greed and corruption. Is this possible? What do you think should be done about the fact that the average CEO makes 500 times the average line workers salary? Is that ethical?

A couple years ago, I bought an antique toy typewriter from the 40's-50's era from a weird guy at the flea market. It's not in complete working order: the ribbon turning mechanism is busted, and some of the keys stick. But it still is a beautiful machine. (Note: The only thing that makes it a toy is its small size.) I am wondering whether I should sell it or keep it because it is such an epitone of the 40's-50's. Go to www.myspace.com/robertalfredson for pics of it.

I have a job where I don't get very many hours but am always scheduled on weekends which makes it difficult for me to have a dating life. I had my fridays off but now that's been taken away. I only work 4 days a week but always on sat and sun when most single guys want to meet. It is difficult to meet people during my free time everyday and it seems like every guy that I talk to lives 40 miles or more away from my city (I wonder why there aren't any single guys in this big city) and they don't want to drive into the city afterwork on a week night to meet. I can meet them on sat mornings before 12 but no one wants to meet that early. There are two of us that work every sat and sun whereas the manager of the department gives themself every weekend off which is kind of unfair. It's not like I am making that much money , it's just that my hours keep me from being able to meet guys. Am I the only one who has no weekend?

A person I work with (that holds the same title I do) is trying to show me up at work. I do my job to the best of my ability, but she is constantly trying to do better than me. In order to do this, she has to lie about the work that she does. her scores at work are getting to be better than mine, but only because she lies about what shes doing and i know this for a fact! Also, when I am out to lunch or when i go home, she goes through my desk and gets on my computer to check my emails. She also takes things from my office that she thinks i need to do my job! I have had to begin locking my desk even if i go somewhere else in our small building that I work in so she wont go thru my desk and I have also set a password to my screensaver so that she can not log onto my computer!we work in a small company and i dont want to confront her and make it hard on everyone here!my boss is aware of this situation! what else can i do?

and you withdraw some money say $100.00. Bank teller gives you back 5 $20.00 bills. You go to the store with your money and purchase something say fo $25.00. You give the cashier the money, she swipes the bills with the counterfiet pen and bango,
the bills are fake.
Now how do you prove to the bank that the money you had just withdrawn from them was fake and how would you prove that you had no idea the bills were worthless to the cops.

If you read "The Great Bust Ahead" (Arnold), "The Great Boom and Bust Ahead" (Harry Dent), or "Prophecy" (Robert Kiyosaki), you'll find that we're headed toward a depression that could last between 12-14 years; starting around 2010.
There are too many people over-extended on credit and a glut of baby boomers will be retiring.
Based on the factual data for the past 80 years, once the current 49-54 year old age bracket moves into retirement, there will no longer be the economy-driving spenders we once had.
Also, the 70.5 year olds are required by law to start withdrawing from their 401k's.

I am about to receive a settlement for over $100K and I am interested to know what I should do with the money. I do plan on paying off all of my debt plus my car payment. The remainer I would like to invest into a variety of options. I am leery of stocks. I do have a 401k plan at work which I plan on investing more and I also have some ING accounts which I will probably get more. I am interested in seeing a financial planner. $100K isn't much but I would like it to grow. I am not in a bind to where I need the money. I just want to make wise choices i.e. IRA's, money market accounts, small trust fund for my neices and nephew, savings, etc. I do plan on making a donation to charity and start a small scholarship in my name of course.

What should I do with this money?
