I am a dark blonde and want to dye my hair to a lighter, platinum blonde. I want to use over the counter do it yourself dyes to save money. Are the over the counter dyes safe? Can they make your hair fall out? Can hair dye cause cancer? How often will I need to do my roots? Do I dye my eyebrows too so they match or leave them alone? Will I need a special shampoo to maintain my hair color? I use dandruff shampoo. Will dandruff shampoo dull my hair color? What is the difference between salon dyes and over the counter dyes? Are over the counter dyes lower quality than salon dyes? Will the chlorine in the city water ruin my hair dye?

Everyone says I have beutiful strait hair. But when I look in the mirror I see tons of little hairs at the top of my head. Is it because I'm a kid and my hair is still growing, or is it because of a certain haircut way?I like the way Miley Cyrus has her hair. How does she make it shine????

What's a good straightener that won't damage your hair? I'm leaning more like towards Wal-Mart or Target. Not too pricey

I have naturally black hair with pale skin. Recently, I dyed my hair about 2 shades lighter in a warmish, dark-brown color. I'm surprised by just how much this has warmed up my complexion...I actually look tan in any light! Does anybody know how such a subtle change in hair tone make such a dramatic difference in skin color?? Thanks....

should I get a hair peice to cover up my nearly bald spot?Should I just color my hair?Or should I just let it go and grow old gracefully?I had my picture taken next to aunt on Christmas, she is 77 years old,and we look sisters.Yes it is my mothers sister and I look alot like my mom,but that's kind of scary don't you think? My sister gave me a blonde wig,but it is not my natural color, and I don't know if I can get used to it.
My husband loves me the way I am{he says} maybe I am having a mid-life crisis? What do you think?

Is there a name for the hair stlye cut that the character Jack Ferryman has in the movie Ghost Ship? If there isn't a name is there a specific kind of way to describe it to my stylist other than telling her I saw it in a movie?

I am losing loads of hair (I am 26), I suspect some of my habits are dead wrong....

1. Not brushing (Can't brush when you have curly hair, unless you want me to look like you stuck your fingers in a socket). I think it's bad not to brush regularly, because I believe it stimulates the blood circulation in scalp - hair.

2. Brushing when wet from shower (Only way you won't look like I stuck my fingers in a socket)

3. Washing hair every day ( if I go to swimming pool), but trying and succeeding not to!

4. Wet it every morning when wake up (that's what us curly hair girls have to do...I think)

I suspect they are all in the "What not to do to your hair" bible...

All I do right now is put some Garnier leave-in conditioner in my hair, along with a little gel too keep it from frizzing even more... But I can really only find a few styles: pony tail, down, or the top part back. My hair is almost down to my hips when you pull it straight out, but curly it's just past my shoulders. My curls are REALLY tight, and are getting tighter over the years.
Oh, and I'm not a big fan of spending an hour and a half with a straightening iron! :D
Any good ideas as to what to do with it?

First of all, you need to understand why dandruff forms. See, you shed skin cells all over. But hair holds in the dead skin cells and keeps them from shedding. This creates an accumulation, a scurf.

The problem is worse if you are allergic to the microscopic skin mites that we all have by the millions. The skin, trying to push away the allergen, produces more skin cells. [Here's a test to determine whether you're allergic to microscopic skin mites: Scratch your scalp vigorously and inhale your fingertips. If you start sneezing, you're allergic.]

In order to allow the dead skin cells to shed, you need to shave your head. And keep it shaved! You don't notice any dandruff on your body where there's no hair to begin with? Don't give the skin mites a good hiding place! Shave your head!
