My mom told me to get the iron out of our hair we should use lemon juice and plastic cling wrap. Is this right? Or should I shell out the 30 bucks for a malibu treatment?

My 14 year old daughter has naturally (med) blonde hair that is dyed black. We do the color at home,as we cannot afford to have done at a salon.
She would like to go lighter now and we did try a color that showed that she could acheive the shade she wanted going from the black she currently has, but it didn't work at all. Can anyone recommend a certain brand/shade that we will have success with?PLEASE HELP!!

Well, there was a language barrier with the first lady and she didn't understand what I wanted... she basically gave me a layered/feminine mullet!!!!!!

Then the 2nd lady (about 3 weeks later) tried to fix it, but ended up mostly chopping it all off, short (about shoulder length), and cutting too many bangs. :(

I originally wanted "long layers" and "sideswept bangs," but didn't know these terms until later. My hair looks ridiculous. Still "mullet-y," and I have these uneven, choppy bangs (about to my eyebrows) that span too wide from left to right, and start too far back on my head! What can I do??

I know it depends and varies with every person and their skin tone, but try to think of an olive complexion, or tanned skin tones. What do you girls think looks awful? What looks good? What do guys prefer based on your personal experiences? Thanks for any feedback!

I cut my really long hair to above my shoulders and I really like it and every one says it looks great but my husband gave a face and his comments suggest that it's to short. Even though he insist that he likes it he just has to get use use to it. How do I make my self feel better about cut hair anxiety? And not worry about what my hubby thinks.

I had my hair very heavily highlight platinum blonde but my hair is naturally very dark brown and it's hard to keep up with my roots. I can't afford to go to the salon so I want to try the box color from walmart or something like that but I'm scared it will turn out a funky ugly color because i'm not darkening my natural hair color. I will be darkening a fake bleached blonde color. I'm wanting to go a very dark rich warm brown color. Does anyone have any experience with this or advice? Thanks!

I straighten my hair often, and I put in product first to protect it, but if always smells burnt after I am done straightening it. It isn't burnt, my hair stylist told me I have very healthy hair. Any suggestions on how I can make my hair smell good, when I am straightening it?
It didn't do this the first few times I used my straightener, but I clean it when I am done, so I don't know why now it leaves my hair smelling like this?

I am 56 and have been coloring my hair since I was 19 years old because of premature graying. Now I want to grow out to my natural color as I dont like all the chemicals that I have to use every month. I get my hair cut every 6 to 8 weeks and hope I can get through the grow out period. Any suggestions?
