I straighten my hair often, and I put in product first to protect it, but if always smells burnt after I am done straightening it. It isn't burnt, my hair stylist told me I have very healthy hair. Any suggestions on how I can make my hair smell good, when I am straightening it?
It didn't do this the first few times I used my straightener, but I clean it when I am done, so I don't know why now it leaves my hair smelling like this?

Ok, I guess I should add that I am doing most of what everyone is saying... I have an expensive ceramic flat iron, and I use heat protectant straightening spray. I straigten my hair 1-2 times per week, so it isn't every day.

Your hot iron is on way to high. If you have one with a dial turn it down and just run it through a few more time or even slower. Some times blowing it more dry Can help that to if your hair is still wet then it take the moisture out at the same time and can leave a burnt smell.

My hair smells burnt when i use straighteners. I think its just the effect of heat on hair. Try using a nice smelling finishing product, or a light spritz of perfume or body spray. Hair "holds" scent better than skin.

i use a flat iron too sometimes. but it doesn't makes my hair smell burnt. usually the only time it starts to smell burnt is if i have put styling prducts in my hair at first or if i leave it on my hair too long. the burning smell isn't a good thing though.

Do you always start with squeeky clean hair (+ the product) ? It may be also your own oily hair. You should shampoo your hair 2-3 times if it is long to make sure the oils are gone. Do not use too much of a hair conditioner.

Mine does the same, even with a product in it.
I just spray some of my perfume unto my hair when I'm done, but even if I don't, the smell goes away in an hour anyways.

It sounds like the protective product is not compatible with heat.

See if there is any piece of hair is trapped in one of the parts. That could be the problem.
