If one already owns a few expensive fast non-VR lenses, the question is academic - but if starting from scratch, what is the best choice. I get the impression that a faster lens will make the 2 stops advantage of VR irrelevant - and give you more flexibility overall. No Cannon v Nikon nit-picking please :-)

Hey, I was needing some help with developing film. I remember that when I had developed film earlier, all I used was D-76, a stop bath, fixer, hypo clear and a wash. But I do not know what kind of film I was using, except that it was black and white.
I was looking at film, and can't seem to find how exactly to develop it. It is at: http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/121390132.htm
Thanks for any help.

The UK legal position is that nobody has right of ownership of their image in public - otherwise CCTV, TV footage of sports fans, etc would not be permitted. My personal opinion is that consent should be sought whenever feasable - but is taking a photo of someone in a public place any worse than 'capturing' their image with my eyes and memory? This is not a question about the harrassment of so-called 'celebs' by paparazzi - that is a separate issue to my question.

I am currently starting the 3rd year of my photography degree and I have to do a final major project which I will be focusing on all year. I
have to think of a project which i can focus on all year and develop. I was thinking of looking at opposites like:
black / white
tall / small
Boy / girl
old / young..... etc
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or how they would see these opposites in a photograph and how they would go about it?
or would you choose a diffent subject? if so what?
Thankyou

ok let me explain
iam a jeweller and i need to be able to take nice detailed pictures and print them to send to clients and new shops.
the problem im having is that i take a picture and then i use one of the many photo printing stores on the web were u just upload ur pictures and they print and deliver for you .
i recently did this with some new jewellery and they came back very blurry and not very good.
but iam wondering if its because i edit my pictures to keep the light the same and to crop what id like to know is if its the cropping of the orignal picture that is making the end result look find and detailed on the computer but very blurry and basically crappy on a printed picture ?

any insight would be great as im at a loss

another little side question would be do you think its better to have my pictures printed at a professional printing place like a kodak shop or once i figure out whats wrong with my pictures will a online printing shop be fine ?

I discovered after buying a digital camera that I'm quite good at taking scenic pictures.. I'd like to turn that into a professional endeavor but I'm not sure how to start. any advice on business cards... I'm not even sure what to offer as a business.

any suggestions on how to start? what should I offer a customer? How should I some-how mark or label a picture that I sell so its clear it is my picture?

I know I definately did something wrong.
Okay, I have a Canon Rebel K2 non-date model and when I was over at my friend's house changing the film, I accidentally pressed down on the little rubber strips that block the hole that the film is exposed to. All of them from the top down are overlapping on top of each other, but the bottom strip, which is longer than the rest, sort of bows to the left instead of standing straight.

If you know what it is/how I can fix it please tell me.

Hey, I was looking into a Nikon film camera (Dont know which one yet) and I was just wanting to know, is film worth investing in? I know some companies still make film, but what about printing places such as Walmart, Walgreens, and Target? Will they still print in the forseeable future? I am planning to develop the film myself. Just wondering.

i'm almost 36 weeks along and i'm getting some maternity shots done this weekend. i am a small girl with an extremely large belly, and most of the maternity pictures i've seen are of women who aren't as far along as me. i was wondering if any of you have suggestions or links to sites with pictures for poses, wardrobe, shot ideas, etc for this shoot that will make me feel more comfortable. i want them to be very "real" and comfortable, the pictures will be in black and white.
my photographer keeps asking what i want, etc, and all i know is i want them to look nice and i dont' want to look back on them and think wow i was so huge and i looked so bad!
any suggestions?

I have a digital SLR Nikon D80. I am looking for a fisheye lens that will preferrably work with auto focus/exposure settings. I can't seem to find any lenses of this type with a longer focal length. I have used a manual fisheye lens with focal length of 16mm, but auto lenses seem to be around 8 or 10mm. I am looking for a full frame fisheye, not circular.

Is there any software out there that can convert a digital photograph into a sketch or psuedo painting? The purpose is to take real photos and convert them into illustrations for a children's book.

Any ideas?

Yes I own Canons, Minoltas and Sonys.......yes I hire Nikons sometimes (for a particular lens), yes I hire medium formats sometimes.

Yes I do Camera Operate for TV. - - using the best HD Sonys available.

So here we go, the sony A100 or Alpha to some.

Why when it was the Minolta D7 did people rate it, now it says Sony thet dont? Practical Photography rate it the best DSLR one month and 7th the next? (thanks Dr Sam)

Those that write Sony off have you ever considered Sony are the leaders in Pro TV/video cams. Sony are a serious company, they are in bed with Zeiss - who make the best TV cam lenses.

Being in the know, I know Sony have serious plans for still cams. If you have heard of Zeiss then you will know the top lenses in the range are sharp as.

Do people really think Sony are going to stop at the A100, are they content being ignorant as to the future of DSLR?

So lets see who gets what I'm saying and lets see who keeps the "blinkers" on?

how do i clear blurry pictures?

2007-09-25 12:50:27 · 3 answers · asked by Anonymous

It's my understanding that a lower f-stop number will result in a blurred background and a higher number in an all around in focus shot. BUT why is it that I am seeing these photos online that have nice blurred backgrounds that were shot at f-14? What gives? I want to use this info for wildlife photography.

Thanks!!
