I discovered after buying a digital camera that I'm quite good at taking scenic pictures.. I'd like to turn that into a professional endeavor but I'm not sure how to start. any advice on business cards... I'm not even sure what to offer as a business.

any suggestions on how to start? what should I offer a customer? How should I some-how mark or label a picture that I sell so its clear it is my picture?

First, take a deep breath and slow down. Now google David Muench. Look at his work. Compare yours to his. That is your competition. He is only one competitor out of thousands.

Now find a photography class to take. If there are none available locally check out the New York Institute of Photography (nyip.com). They offer correspondence courses and have been in business since 1910.

If you want, you can google "How to sell your photographs" and see which companies accept unsolicited submissions. You can always send a few photos out. Don't be upset when they are rejected.

Good luck.

Well i dont know how you could do scenic, me Ive done a wedding before, nervewrecking ,b ut was an amazing experience.
I would tho, pick your best picture out of the bunch, and use it as a background for a homemade business card, just print one using business card template and the packet of unprinted cards from a store. Its really easy I did my own and was told it was amazing.
As far as labeling it, I would on the back of each print put the Name of print,
Your Name
and the copyright symbol and year.

photography does not require a special skills but you need to be creative well at least. And about the scenery photograph I think that you're curious on what or how you going to do it? and here my answer : EXPERIMENTAL.

Experimental are common among photographer and so do I, I always keep doing experiment with my camera, playing ISO, adjusting the aparture settings and so on. Yet also image that we process in Photoshop that makes us marvelous. Experimenting yourself with the camera, just take what ever you want and trust me you'll satisfied.

Problem about the business card, usually are dominated by your nature of business. May I know what business nature you have right now? is it photography too? If it's a photography then I believe simple creation of business card would be nice. Don't get to fancy because you're not a designer. So KISS -Keep It Simple Silly
