I do photography, but I haven't been practicing it for a long time. But my boyfriend's family asked me if I would take their family portrait, outside, on Thanksgiving. There will be around 30 of them. I'm looking for any posing ideas, lighting tips etc. Anything will help!

Has anyone taken or heard of this program? It looks interesting. Will I learn more in an actual class, rather than from the home study?
How much is tuition..I looked on the internet but they said I'd have to have the info mailed to me..I'm waiting on that. Is there anything anyone can tell me about it while I wait for the mail? Thanks.

When built-in flash is used, my camera (Nikon D-70) always shows the shutter speed of 60. So, the pictures doesnt come in correct exposure. Most of the times, pictures come dark. So, please help me in setting correct shutter speed / aperature to take out pictures with good light exposure. Without built in flash, i cannot take pics at night and with built-in flash the pictures come out dull with over / under exposure. Plz help.

How would you suggest a jump in career to Photography. Is "interest" enough?
If you are in it already.. What did you do to start?
How would you go about initiating the career jump... take it that you have not had ANY formal training.

I've looked around on ebay for different kits, but I'm not sure what would be best for my situation. I need a kit that will provide enough light to take high quality pics indoors, at different times of day and night. I'm also looking for something relatively inexpensive (around $150 or less, if possible). I don't mind buying something used, but I'm just not sure whether some of the kits I'm looking at are for taking pics of people or of smaller objects. Also, if I get several 500 watt lights, will I end up blowing out the fuses in my house? Do I need anything special to accomodate these high energy bulbs? Thanks to anyone who can give me some good, reliable input!

Wikipedia says this as a definition of "definition" (heh...):

"7. Clarity of visual presentation, distinctness of outline or detail."

(Examples:)
"The definition of a telescope."
"Improve the definition of an image."

Okay, well, if that's what one definition of the word -definition- is, for images, then how is resolution different, since higher resolutions are what produce higher clarities of pictures?

Or has the Wikipedia left something out, and therefore is definition not just resolution, but also about color depth and contrast range and things like that?

But wait! If it were about color depth, then would that be saying that a B/W picture has lower definition than a full-color picture, even if their resolutions are exactly the same?

Oh, and the definition of a picture wouldn't include ALL kinds of clarity, would it, because then you'd have to say that if the lens was out of focus, there was less definition, too, right? And that wouldn't make sense, would it?

I have taken loads of photos for a charity and just wondered whether the photos actually still belong to me or do the charity now own them?

I just want to be really clear on where I stand legally.

Also, if they do belong to the charity, would I still be able to use any of the photos to promote my own portfolio if I got a model release form from the people who are in the photo?

Sorry if it's a bit garbled!!

I am trying to take my sisters senior pictures and have them printed off. Does anyone know of any websites where I can get the wallet sized pictures done, so they look like a wallet that would be professionally done. We got some done at walgreens, but they are just not the same size as normal wallets and I'm really looking for some with rounded edges and all that. Thanks!

How has the switch to digital effected the WAY you shoot professionally or as a hobbiest? Did you hold on to your film equipment? If so, why?

Since you film users talk so much about film being better because of the tonality, colour reproduction, contrast, saturation, etc etc being better than what digital can do, can you give me examples? Anything that supports your claim. Show me any evidence that proves digital can't reproduce a film image.
