I think if you are serious about photography, you should invest in the best camera you can afford. I have an EOS Digital Rebel which has different lenses you can purchase (i.e., macro). You have the ability to disable the auto focus which is a plus as you may try to take pictures of something and the camera insists on focusing on something else. There are other cameras on the market that are wonderful in your price range. Old school cameras are fantastic and lend their artistic merit! (I started out with a Canon manual focus camera from the 80's. It was so heavy... I loved the weight of it.) Investing in a nice Photoshop program is useful as well.

Hi Iris! You must enroll at TalkShop. The school offers Photography classes for beginners. I'm sure you will learn a lot from that school. Years ago, I also wanted to learn Photography just like you. If you can't find classes locally, you might want to check with The New York Institute of Photography (nyip.com). They offer correspondence courses and have been in business since 1910.
