nothing can make you "photogenic"
if you turn out "hideous" on pictures someone isnt doing it right. try getting a professional photographer to some work with you, you just might change your mind

People perceive a "balanced" face as attractive. Every person has an "open" and "closed" side to their face. You will see one eye is slightly smaller than the other.Commonly, if you are right handed that will be your "open" side, but there are exceptions. If you took a straight on photo of someone and flipped one side to use two right sides or two left sides, you would see how different they would look with a balanced face. When you have a photo taken, sometimes the difference is more obvious. A good portrait photographer will use lighting and posing to balance your features for a more pleasing pictures. You will notice that people who become models have less of a difference between the two sides of their face.

In the mean time, what can you do to improve your photos? There is a cute little program, easy to operate and quite inexpensive at PortraitProfessional.com, download the free trial and see what you think.

depends on the photographers taste, myself i think a good high cheekbone looks real photogenic so if you have a good cheeck bone use make up that shows it real well. then of course nice big eyes look good. so my idea woman here is good long cheek bones that one can see and nice eyes.

a gifted photographer and lighting operator, perhaps a makeup artist in the mix as well.
everyone is photogenic and everyone is not photogenic...depends on who's doing the shoot.
