I was 21 when my husband and I got married and his 3 kids came to live with us. I had just had a baby myself and was still in college full time. So, I didn't get around to taking great care of some pictures we had professionally taken as a family. Since tehn, one of the kids has written their names in red ink on two of the pictures and there are some rips and tares. Nothing too bad. If I were to scrapbook the pictures I could totally cut out off the damage and have great pictures but of course I want to frame them so that isn't an option. The pictures were professionally done and I know there are copyright concerns but pleeeeeaaase help me!!! Thanks!

i had spent the day in DC taking photos. when i got home i forgot to wind the film before i popped open the camera. i realized it as soon as i saw it, and shut it again, but how badly did i mess it up? the room was fairly dark, i need the shutter speed set to 1, 100 speed film, f-stop 5.6 just to get any reading on the meter in that room. do you think my film has any chance at surviving this? lol. i wont get to develope it until tomorrow.

Man Ray knocks me out. Known for his revolutionary photography, he was the first to grasp the idea of stretching the boundaries of art using the photograph. His famous, morbidly erotic compositions based on the female form earned him a name & lasting fame.

He also was inspired, at least early in his career, by ideas of social change. Most people remember his photos. Less famous are the covers he drew for Emma Goldman's Mother Earth, the famous Anarchist publication. Now Anarchism is the most radical of egalitarian philosophies. It not only accepts the idea of equality, it presupposes the capacity of individuals to embrace it without compulsion, on their own remonstrance. It expects that no one is better able to rule over us as we ourselves can.

With such revolutionary elan, one would expect Ray to be feminist, particularly in connection with his association with Goldman. He wasn't, however. He was misogynistic. How does one reconcile such disparity of person? Thoughts?

I just got a great present: an r1800 Epson photo printer. I just spent the past year mastering digital photography and photoshop. I am really appreciate about getting this gift, but how long will it take for me to master the printing process, say, if I have about 7 to 10 hours to study it a week? This is going to be a big time commitment. I know in the end it's worth it but it's so easy just to send out your jpeg files to 'labs' Any suggestions on learning the printer? Would a course be helpful?

Credit for the idea for this question goto Mr Ryan.

So what annoys you?

Is it people that think they are better than you because they have a camera they will never be able to get good pixs out of but cost them a second mortgage?

Is it people who pay the doctor and builder but want to steal copyright work?

I own a hammer but wouldnt attempt to build a house, so why are we all "pros?" - you know "im a pro and i use a canix D1/d/200D EXS DRW TRL, unless im outdoors in the sun my pictures dont look to great. i spend an hour in photoshop and they still dont look as good as that guy with the old film camera who reads exposure off his hand, whats that about?" etc etc do these people convince or annoy you or do you just pity them?

Go on vent yourselfs of frustrations, be free go forth and answer

I'm into video production and NEED to use halogen lamps because of the color temperature - flourescent lights are "too greenish" and tungsten light bulbs tend to be "too yellowish", but halogens give nice skin tones because of their color temperature. However, halogen lamps use a LOT of electricity and give off a LOT of heat, so I was wondering if I could eventually replace them with LED lighting instead, which is much more energy efficient (lower electric bill and less heat). Thanks to all who answer.

If I was asked to photograph a rodeo where there is the potential to make many sales to all the cowboys and cowgirls, which means make lots of money without even charging the organization who is putting the rodeo on, would you charge a hiring fee, or buyt the hour or would you not charge?

I'm starting to get into taking photos (usually I just draw).
I would love someone to give me feedback on my pet bird photos... what you like about them, what you dislike. Any tips would be great too, thank you!
I use a digital camera, just a little Olympus. Some of the photos are tweaked in Photoshop.

Long story short, a customer from my work wishes to purchase rights to a picture i took, and im lost as to how to go about it and how much to charge for this. he wants to use this picture for his business and for advertising, so i was thinking ballpark $250 for unconditional lifetime rights to do with it whatever he wants to. Am i undercharging here? Thanks

I have a list of premium, professional digital photo print services that will create 'archival' 8 x 10 prints for $10 to $30. Then I see Costco offering 8 x 10's for $1.99, and I've heard they produce as good a product as anyone. What is the deal? Just what makes the premium sites better besides storage space, cataloging, etc. Is it the printing equipment, paper stock, etc? Let's say I've photoshopped my photos exactly to what I want via my monitor settings. Do the premium places adjust your own 'adjustments'? Also, there is an element of subjectivity involved in the product (I might like the color/contrast results at Costco's; you might think it sucks). BTW, when Frank Stella (his paintings go for $500,000 nowadays) began painting, he went to paint store basement sales because he could only afford a dollar per gallon for paint. Now everyone calls him a genius. Bottom line? Does it make a difference where you get your work done (other than doing it yourself)?
