if you have photoshop, and you are starting from a color photo, desaturate the image. i think this option is under image, adjustments, desaturate.
then, select whatever object you want to keep the color. Use the pin tool to select it, that will give you the closest most accurate selection. once you have the object selected, use your history brush. go over the selection with the history brush, and it will bring in the original color only on what you have selected.

Oh my god your girlfriend looks like the Mom actress on sci-fi meadowlands. You need to learn photoshop. Basically its a color photograph with everything but the bandana turned black and white. Obviously.

Haha, yeah I know. This question is getting to be annoying.

And you can't download photoshop. It's like $300.

But I use MSPictureIt! 7.0 to do this effect, and it works just fine.
