It all depends on what is the subject matter. If the subject is just a face then A4 would be life size. If the subject is from the belly up then 3 feet (20x30) would probably do. If the subject is a car then life size would mean something huge.

I used to work for 1 hour photo. We were little bit different in that there were no work that we could do (even though we were dinky little store). We would be easily able to enlarge an A4 print. So you can check around your local 1 hour labs. Many mom and pop store are hurting for business and they may hustle to get your $$$.

If that doesn't work, you can just scan it (or even take a digital picture of A4 (do it outside in daylight / overcast day). Then go to your local magazine store and look for a photography magazine. Usually at the back of the magazines are many advertisers that does poster size enlargements (digital). You can just upload them and they'll print them up for you.

Don't forget about the copyright law. You probably won't be able to get a print made from a book anyway without a release.

i guess you have some obsession,,

take it to a pro lab and get it scanned,

but really 300dpi A4 to poster wont please you often,

go hard
