I accidently took 300+ photos in .nef form and I have no clue how to convert them into .jpg. And is it possible to convert them into their original quality?

Could you give me the details? Thanks alot!!!

.nef is the Nikon RAW format. You need a RAW convertor - a basic one should have come with the software supplied with your camera. There are also more sophisticated programs in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro if you have access to either of those. The convertor will enable you to make jpgs. RAW pictures can be regarded as 'digital negatives' and should be retined as you can manipulate them over and again without loss of quality.

Just convert to a jpg at 12 for the best results or even better yet a Tif file which is uncompressed. Many places will not print from a tif file so jpg is a good choice. When you convert just make it full sized.

If you shot on one of the older Nikons (D100, D70,D50) you should be able to open the NEF file in Photoshop CS if you have that. If you don't have that program, you could check with a friend or at school and do it there.

If it is one of the newer Nikon D200, D2Xs (maybe the D40, D40x, D80) then you have to have the Nikon Capture NX to open them and save them as a jpg file.

You can get a trial copy here for 30 days from the Nikon website. Make sure when loading this program you are connected to the internet because you will have to have "Microsoft's Net frame" installed to make it run (this is free).
