If I was asked to photograph a rodeo where there is the potential to make many sales to all the cowboys and cowgirls, which means make lots of money without even charging the organization who is putting the rodeo on, would you charge a hiring fee, or buyt the hour or would you not charge?

Science and technology have changed our ways of doing things. With the invention of digital camera, cost of photograph should be cheaper than before. And if I am a photographer I would charge less and still make money for the volume sales.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. You may not make as many sales as you think. Also, make sure the event allows you to use the images you make for your own profit. They may expect to own the rights themselves. So, I would charge by the hour with a contract stating how image rights will be used.

Most of these cowboys/girls have their own sponsors and publicity/management organizations. They generally provide their own photogs, that they have worked with, have contracts with etc...

You might make $$'s if you set up a booth, and shoot kids on saddles with a rope in their hands, or with their heads stuck out of cardboard pictures of cowboys, etc...

If the rodeo is expecting photos, have them pay for the event. Whatever you think your time, effort, and ability can manage.

Depends on how much you could make and your costs, time and abillity.

Whats lots of money to you?

I prefer to get an hourly rate + expenses, then I cant lose, get a deposit.

you could do a deal like using a combination of the factors

one example, say its XY hours, charge $xxx less so much per order you get or sum thing like that

a few numbers would make it easier to answer

go hard
