Is it by agreement with the artist when I buy it? Or do I automatically buy the copyright of that work when I buy a painting? It is English law I am interested in.

I was given one of his paintings that I absolutely adored as a child, and I have been trying to find out more about him ever since. But all I know is that he was born in Paris, died in Portugal and lived in Ecuador. I would love to know more about him and see more of his work, but I'm failing with the internet searches... Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you!!

i dont know if this has been discussed, but it appears thaat a large face is on the wall to the viewer's right and jesus' left http://web.hku.hk/~chin2341/class2005/CHIN2341_Assign1_LastSupper.jpg

also it appears that the guy 4 people from jesus' left handed the 3rd guy from jesus' left something {look at 3rd guy's clinched hand (possibly concealing something)}. just some interesting things i spotted in this.

I was told that in an oil painting the eyes have the whites, the iris, the pupils, AND a little dash of white to show the reflection of the light. The dash, or dot, of white are both on the left or both on the right side of the eyes.

Do you have any more information on this?

Thanks.

My dad has an old painting given to his mother by a friend around the 30's. I think the name is 'Pears', (I can't really understand the last letter but the name is in good condition), and the picture is in a custom frame so I don't want to take it apart to see if anything is underneath. It's a picture of two women, one sittinng, one standing, selling a chicken. If anyone has heard of this artist or if this sounds familiar please let me know. If it would help I can post a picture of it, so let me know.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I have recently received a wonderful print of a painting from Bob Byerley as a birthday present. He is considered the modern day Norman Rockwell. I just love his paintings.

I wanted to know how or what kind of lighting can I buy to put over it to help with the soft highlights of showing it off? I bought a slim light to put above it, but it shows off the reflection of the light bulbs in the lighting. I really do not have the money to hire an electrician to try to put them on the cathedral ceiling to shine down. What is the best and cheapest way to highlight my print painting that is framed in glass without having the lightbulb relflected in the glass?

Thank you for your kind answers.

I'm doing a project about Japan in the 1930s and I need a piece of art that was influenced by that time period. I'd like it to be a picture of a geisha, but I'm open to other suggestions as well.

The problem is, I can't find a painting with the artist's name on it. I need a name to do a little research on them.

Help would be immensely appreciated. Internet sites, anything...

Say I have a blank unfinished body and I want to put a sweet psychedelic painting on it, such as Clapton's famous SG: http://www.saiichi.com/assets/JPEG%20IMAGES/15_fool_sg_closeup.jpg

What are the steps that I must follow to complete this task? What kind of paint can I use and do I just find a clear finish (nitrocellulose) to put over the color layer? Thanks for your help.

I remember that many years ago, when I was a kid during the 70s and 80s, my mom used to watch his show on PBS. Even though Bob Ross has been dead for some time, I think he's sort of become a legend. In fact, I remember a guy on here who used Ross' picture as an avatar.:)

"Young virgin auto-sodomized by her own chastity"
It sounds to be a reference to masturbation. The painting looks to have a bunch of phallus' flying around as well. What was Mr. Dali's inspiration for making this piece, and what did he have it represent?

this is a picture of the clock:

http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/5273/it...

it is handmade in Italy in 1988, there are only about 15-20 of those made, and I have all of them

please give a range in what you would sell, the min, and max

thankyou so much!

the clock it self is handmade and also the painting is painted by the same person

and there is a certificate of guarantee, 800% silver foil

craftsman is not famous, but only made a few of these and I have them all

the craftsman made 3 things:
painting+clock(one shown in the picture)
a clock bigger than the one in the picture but same format
painting bigger than the one in the picture but same style(he made a few different paintings though)
