for the most part, I like your work, the colors, the compositions,
but, I think I would like to see the darks pushed a little more - especially in your landscapes, and a little on the figures. I really like your figures tho. I always chopped the heads off! Yours have their heads!
Remember, it's all subjective. Somebody else may think just the opposite. Have fun with it.

Nice. You have the promise of a great artist in you.

Don't I like it? Yes I do but you are not there yet. You have some amazing skill and most paintings really show that....but that is skill. Just a few really show your artistry so to speak.

Your portraits look amazing but lack that extra glint that pushes them beyond the realm of a snapshot. I can only say that it seems to be the lack of adventure when painting the eyes. Take for instance your portrait of Richard. The whole face is fraught with action and 'daring' specks of paint. But the eyes you almost seem scared to do anything because you fear you will loose the resemblance. The hair is very nicely done. Both the under painting as the details on top work together for maximum effect. Alas this also works against the eyes where detail is completely lacking.

Study some more. Take a look (in person) at portraits by Rembrandt. Your style of painting looks very much like his. Specially how he does eyes will amaze you. You will really get an artistic boost out of that.

Hi Jessica,

I took a brief look at your works (I should be having dinner..) and what I can say is that your works have quality.
I liked them for sure.
Now it's a matter of keeping working hard because as you know painting is 10% inspiration and 90% transpiration.
Good luck with your art.

Take care,

José

I like:
"abandon"
"glow"
"Oscar"
"self-portraits: consequences"
"Carousel in Cannes", but you could have cropped the image so it will focus on the carousel. The other buildings and the blue sky kinda distracts me. I like carousel shots during night or sunset.

Excellent. Very professional. What price would you put on "Pensive"?
