I remember that many years ago, when I was a kid during the 70s and 80s, my mom used to watch his show on PBS. Even though Bob Ross has been dead for some time, I think he's sort of become a legend. In fact, I remember a guy on here who used Ross' picture as an avatar.:)

You know as much as I wanted to put down Bob's technique as trying to do something that took time and training to a way of doing something quick and easily, I'd have to say that he brought many more people to trying art in their own home than all the art teachers in my school combined, plus then some. I didn't want to like him but I did. He enjoyed himself and liked to let people see his inside nature for lightheartedness while he was creating a mountain or a grove of trees in just a couple of swipes of the brush. He brought the fun of it into vogue. I haven't seen anyone else be so out in the open with their private creative process as he was. I miss watching him and wondering what was coming next. And "oh, look at that!" He was a good man.

If you relatively desire to make use of his system then i endorse you utilize oil paint. Acrylics are as an alternative smooth paints in comparison to the additional thick oils Bob used to make use of and you are going to have obstacle utilising his procedures with acrylics. There are different methods to color and for those who relatively decide upon acrylics then a further kind of portray is indicated.

I still watch "The Joy of Painting" and am a certified instructor in his landscape series. I teach several classes monthly at my home studio. I enjoy his soothing voice.
