I am thinking of auditioning for The Sound of Music, but before I do, I was wondering if they will even consider me for any of the main roles, since I am African American.

Thanks!

I'm 17 years old and I left school after my GCSEs. I want to become an actress/scriptwriter and to achieve this I need to gain experience by going to an acting school and learning all I can about what I want to do, then hopefully going on to get an agent and get myself out there. Which acting schools take people on who haven't studied past their GCSEs? Thanks

The only thing that people seem to know about it is A) It's intense B) it's hard to get into. But I have some other questions for current or past students...

Should I update my headshot or just take a picture and include that with my admission packet?

Beyond the resume and essay, is there an audition that's part of the admission process?

Can one attend at night or do I need to give up my day job to be a part of the process?

With tuition being what it is, does it REALLY look good on an acting resume?

I've been taking acting lessons for three years and I was also member of my school's drama club where we had meeting every week and did, among with shows, exercises for acting tools such as holding your breath while talking for a long time etc... Also, I've been involved a lot in music: i took piano lessons for 6 years, guitar/electric guitar lessons for three years and theory of music for about two years. Finally, I took for two years voice lessons where I practiced my voice's tune and did exercises on how to keep a correct voice tune for different kind of scenes. For example, if it was a drama scene, I've exercised on how to get the right voice for the scene.

I've just turned 16. Are those enough? Any tips? Thanks!

I am 21 years old and I am recently starting to think about a career in acting. I have no acting experience but I think if I start now I can get into it. Now most people I know start theater very young and I regret not doing it then, but I really want to do this. How can one go about doing it at such a late age?

I'm looking for a contemporary dramatic audition monologue either an original piece or from a play, but it has to be written for stage performance.

I am a female, but I don't generally have a preference for the character I'm reading.

Anything really helps, thanks!

I've been playing the guitar for a few years now but I still haven't picked up on the ability of being able to hear a song and then figure out how to play it on the guitar. Does anyone know if any software programs exist from which you can play a song through and it tells you what notes are actually being played? Before anyone suggests sheet music, much of the music I want to play on the guitar is hard to find on sheet music. I just want to know if any software exists that can help me figure out the notes of a song.

When talent scouts searching for actors, models, etc. interview potentials do they choose those whom are perfect as is? Or might they choose someone and tell them to improve something like lose 5 pounds or change their hair, etc.
I'm 5'5''-5'6'' and about 118 lbs, which is not good stats for a model, but maybe good enough for acting or something? Might they choose me and tell me to lose some weight or just overlook me all together?
