I've been playing the guitar for a few years now but I still haven't picked up on the ability of being able to hear a song and then figure out how to play it on the guitar. Does anyone know if any software programs exist from which you can play a song through and it tells you what notes are actually being played? Before anyone suggests sheet music, much of the music I want to play on the guitar is hard to find on sheet music. I just want to know if any software exists that can help me figure out the notes of a song.

All songs are built on either major or minor chords in a given key and follow a pattern.

Patterns are, for example, 1,4,5

The key is A the pattern would be A, D, E (1,4,5)

You have to decide if one of them is major or minor.

If it's a minor at the second chord it would be more like A, BMin, E

The relative minor is 2 count away backwards from the prime.

The relative minor of C is Am Am (B, C) two count.

That's basically it except for figuring out any nuance like is it an Amin7, but just stick with majors and minors and patterns for now.

There are only about a dozen patterns in wide use.

You have to tune your guitar to a tuner and play music from a digital source to keep the notes and keys in pitch.

I generally reveals it less difficult to play songs that I like, else I would now not revel in finding out it although its convenient. Anyway, take a look at Sweet Misery by way of Michelle Branch C-G-Am-G F-C-G C-G-F-C-G-Am-G interlude: F-C-F-C very sensible chord styles with the commom open chords, and there is additionally the F chord. It's difficult however barred chords are very most important and will have to constantly be train at the side of open chords.

Hit up your local bookstore. My friend purchased on book on music theory which enabled him to pick up notes and general sounds and interpret them on guitar. Sorry I can't think of the book or the subject matter, but he found it at Barnes and Noble.

He had only been playing for 7-8 when he learned it. Good luck!
