I need tips, big time! I think I'd be a decent actress, if I could ever get over my shyness in Theatre class! Do you have any tips?

close your eyes. forget who you are. for a moment feel absolutely nothing. be aware of your body, how your limbs feel, the floor under your feet, the tempeture of the air. now picture the character you are trying to portray. hold them in your mind now feel the air as they would feel it, pretend that your feet are the size of theirs. think the thoughts that are going through their head. this will help you get a feel for the character herself. when in front of people, you cant think about being watched. you are that character and she is not being watched. she is just living her life and interacting with other people.

This is going to sound very cliche, because you hear it so much in the theatre world, but it is completely true; Become your character. You have to imagine yourself in your character's situation. You are no longer "pretending". You are living out a tragic reality. Connect your emotions with the situation described in your script. What would you do if . . . happened? Don't worry about what others think of your performance, whether they believe it to be silly or serious. You just live out your part as much as possible.

Do not worry about your shyness. It is a non-issue. Forget it. No es importante.

#1: FEEL! understand what words you have been given to speak, and relate them to your character. Why does she say these words and not other words? What is going on in her head that prompts her to say these words? How does she feel as she says these words? What are other people saying to her? Why? How does she feel about that?

Step inside your character's skin, try it on for a while, and try to understand why she does what she does. Nobody watches the actor. They watch the character.

first of all it is not shyness it is the lack of confidence and fear of faliure.
the only way you can get rid of it is just try doing what you fear the most
then let me remind you that movies are a place where you must be able to work in a group .
so, i think sharing your problems with your team mates and ask them to help you gives you a better chance to get rid of it.

kill fear before it kills you..its never tooo late.
all the best

Acting comes natually, just ignore other people, being shy when your acting is silly, nothing to be nervous or worried about being embarassed or being a good actress? Which sounds better?

Yep. if you do what an actor is supposed to do and that is concentrate on being the character and do what the character does, you will not be shy, because the character is not shy. You only are shy when you stop acting.

well my advice for you is to just let everything go and when you start acting just dont look at the poeple and imagine its just you and only you. dont let other people make you shy. if your good, people would be so proud. just let go....
