You get an agent in NJ the same way as getting one anywhere. You build a resume of lots and lots of acting experience and training, and your provide a head shot that shows that you have a look that is marketable These are mailed to the agency with a cover letter asking for representation (It has to be written by your parent if you are under 18). Then you wait for a reply, if none comes, you try again about every three months. In the meanwhile you keep developing a better and better resume by getting more experience and training. You see agents are not interested in inexperienced nobodies, they need actors who are good enough to compete with the best in the world. Until you can do that you are not ready for an agent. Need help preparing for an agent? I help actors find a career. I do it for nothing. Click on my name, read my profile and contact me at my aol address and I will see if I can help you as well.

You can't get an agent just by wanting to act. You have to be able to act.

If you don't know how to do that, learn first before you go trying to land an agent. You will either land a crummy agent who will just take your money and give you nothing, or you will get knocked on your butt and decide that you have no talent and your dreams will be crushed.

Read books, take classes, do some plays, do some student films, and THEN think about getting an agent. But, don't think that getting an agent is the magic key to success. You get an agent if you start to succeed, no to start to succeed. I hope that makes sense.

Good luck!!!
