Theater & Acting - August 2006

Oh! dear! Last night I had the extreme satisfaction of watching "Antigone", the famous Tragedy written by Sophocles, in the 26 centuries old theater of Epidaurus, with the perfect natural acoustics! While I was geting all this wisdom and becoming a better person, with thousands other spectators, I was thinking of all those millions who had similar pleasure and the billions who did not! It is a unigue experience! Have you been there?

u can find auditions on the radio. i live in michigan and im 13. i listen to the radio a lot and not once i have heard auditions and stuff on the radio. do they? when do they usually announce it?

I'll be moving to NYC in about a year for acting and I know the city has places that rent rooms that are large enough for a bed and you would share a bathroom with people. Kind of like a "Dorm" setting. Does anyone have any information they could give me on where I can find these? Thank you!

I'm BRAND NEW to acting.. The only class I've taken for it was this 1 semester course 2 years ago.. well, i heard this audition/casting call was coming around my area so i though i might give it a try and MAYBE make it big.. lol what do i take and what can i expect? oh and it'll be for acting.. TV and Cinema have dominated popular culture since the mid 20th century. In the 21st century we can add the Internet to make a big media trio. But what about the role of theatre? Before TV was invented and cinemas were widespread theatre was one of the main sources of entertainment. Do you go to the theatre? If not then why? What is the role of theatre today?
