a music store

Check the music stores where you live. See what other people think about them. If they have a bad reputation look for others.

I would try online shopping as a last resort, since you can't tell what condition the instrument you're buying will be in. Also, you don't get a chance to try out different kinds of the same instrument, and find one you like.

If you're really serious about buying one, it's better to settle on one you won't mind having for years. It doesn't make any sense to buy an instrument for a large amount of money, only to find out that you hate it and the store has a no return policy.

Buy it from the manufacturer of the instrument that you want to buy! or buy it from Woodwindand brasswing.com.

Just remember, there is no Santa Claus. No one can sell anything below cost and keep the door open!
