Sure, human beings are intelligent creatures, no doubt about that. But isn't it arrogant to assume that we are the cleverest/smartest/intelligent being around?

You have the opportunity to choose between two choices:

A) Unlimited wealth
The clincher: You are extremely homely in a way that is viewed as popular opinion.(say there was one)

The rules: You are not allowed to alter your appearance in any way surgically or via procedures like Botox, etc. Traditional methods of beauty enhancement is allowed (cosmetics, hair color, etc.) However, any enhancements do not alter popular opinion, you are still homely but you have an infinite cash flow.

B) Unyielding beauty
The clincher: You will be beautiful in a way that is appealing to most people find attractive (again, saying there was one). However - your beauty cannot lead you to wealth in any way (marry into money, borrow lots of money, modeling etc.). You will always struggle with money and never be comfortable. However, your beauty is lifelong through all ages and will not fade.

All things being equal in terms of wisdom and health, which would you choose and

I got really burned out over the last couple of years at work. Long story. In August I stopped working and decided to take a year off. Im not really wanting to do anything much, just rest. My days are spent watching dvd's and using the computer, surfing the net, and playing games. My question is, do you think its ok to do this? Am I doing myself any harm by living a totally unstructured life? what are your thoughts on the idea of a year spent doing 'nothing'?

I would assume the primary purpose of any organism's life is to survive. In today's world, however, it is no longer much of a challenge for a person (in most situations) to survive to old age. Does this take away from our sence of purpose? Or is there a secondary purpose to our lives? I was thinking this secondary purpose might be security or happiness. Saved money can provide security by letting you know you can always get the things you need. Is that why we love it so much? Or do we just want money because society tells us that we should want money? Or do we want more money in order to feel superior to those who dont have so much? The other thing I've been thinking about is happieness and how to acheive it. I know everyone finds joy in different things. I like yoyos and running. But true happiness is harder to find. Is it love? Safety? Fulfillment? Purpose? Lastly, whats more important to have in life, money or happieness?
