pain to know joy, you must experience saddness to know happiness, is there any evidence to support this or is this something just assumed?

It is my opinion that there are already too many people on the planet.

Maybe the earth can support them all but NOT at American or European standards.

It is often said that the USA is about 5% of the worlds populaation but uses anywhere from 25% to 50% of the worlds resources depending on who you ask and how it is calculated and what is being calculated.

I am an American on the low end of the income scale and would like the rest of the world to live at least as good as I do.
This is not possible with the vast numbers of humans on the planet now.

The question put to you is how to reduce the human population OR the ecological affect of all these people living at least as good as an American making a little less than 12K american a year. ( I don't own a car or house {but I do have to live somewhere and get around somehow} but I do eat meat.

Those ofyou that say I should lead the way and kill myself be careful what you ask for , for I just might do so and take a few of you with me.

ok this may seem like a stupid question but hear me out.
many times in my life I come across people who say that love is everything to them, that they long for someone to love and someone to love them in return, and that without love life is meaningless and they wouldn't want to live in a world without love, etc. etc.
whenever I meet these people or come across these kinds of ideas I get.. confused. don't get me wrong, I love my family very much, I have a boyfriend who I love and spend everyday with, but even so, I'd never get to the point where I'd say.. "love" was it. the be all and end all. love was always just an emotion to me, like sadness, or fear, a big part of life to be sure but never the main cog... figuring it out was more important to me. why we're here, the existance of God, and so on.. those things seem infinitely more important than me falling in love or anything like that. it puzzles me that people can get so obsessed with it. so why is love so important?

say you're a reasonably healthy and mentally capable adult, and you just stopped aging one day. for no explainable reason. you'd still be able to get crushed by a truck, don't get me wrong, but as long as you took care of yourself as you do now, you'd live forever. literally.. forever. think about it. would you take up such an offer?

What if none of this matters...and we just stop bothering with each other and we walk away?...............

Shall we just stop and do that?...no more arguments...

No need to hate.

No need to hate....

Is that the same as no need to love?................

Take each and every moment as it comes!!!

Sounds absolutely pathetic... but some of the best advice is given out in a cartoon - SouthPark-'Goths'!!! - Hear me out, before you stick me in the 'fruitcake' catergory!!!

A common theme in the show is that of a moral or message being told towards the end. I this episode a character called 'Butters', who has just been dumped by his girlfriend, delivers the moral, thus:

Asked if he wanted to join a group of Goth kids (to mope, and write poems about how BAD life is!), he replies,
"Yeah... I'm sad! But at the same time I'm really happy that something can make me feel that sad... it's like... it makes me feel alive, y'know? It makes me feel human."
"The only way I could feel this sad now, is if I felt somethin' really good before, so I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feelin' is, like a beautiful sadness... I guess that sounds stupid..."

yes there are many good things we have done, but it seems that the bad things are only getting worse.
Peace, love, Unity, & Respect are great virtues, but they seem to be fading.
War, Hate, Alienation, & Terror seems to be on the up rise.

for me it seems that humanity will infact end with a "bang" & not a "whimper" as some people like to believe.

I caught my husband cheating on me and we're now separated. He hasn't decided if he wants a divorce yet. I'm trying to be scripturally correct. The Bible says that its the HUSBAND that gives the wife a certificate of divorce. Is what he's done/doing equal to a certificate of divorce?

I sort of feel like messing with some philosopher's heads here a bit but:

Some believe that the only purpose for us to be here is to procreate (make babies to keep making more, generations, etc), but if that's the only reason for the existence of humans, it basically 'disproves itself' so to speak.

Why would a bug exist in the middle of the forest where most don't see them, to just procreate more bugs.....??? It's pointless! No, the reason is that there are other human beings who are here to grow and reach wholeness just like you and me. We help each other grow and learn about ourselves. I have no intention of debating this, which I find hysterical if you do. It's like disproving gravity! Anyway... I just had to post this....
