If you truly love someone you don`t hate that person at all. Is unthinkable;-))
Love is all we need ( by this I mean even a cold hearted person needs love - hate is never a solution, so a form of hurting someone or something even more... Is just cruel )
Love all Beings and God loves you;-)
Love is important in every-ones life, so is never meaningless.
But yes, we all can live without hate;-)

In order to answer this question you would have to define love and the essence of meaninglessness. To say life without love is meaningless without the definition of love, is like saying you see pigs with diamond eyes...it makes no sense.
That said, I would define love as a necessity for human life; it is a feeling, a state of mind, an intellectual endeavor, a fated condition of being born unto a parent...if it is a necessity then it must have meaning.
Having meaning is essentially having consequence. Without a consequence to an action or thought there is no meaning. So lets assume that there are consequences in love, love for others, yourself, objects, God; there is always a consequence to any mental or physical action. So it,you, life is not meaningless...actually love and everything related to it, to life, is the exact opposite of meaningless.
Everything has a place, a purpose, an intent. I would like to think that we cannot understand most of these meaningful interactions, that most of us are blissfully unaware of everything we impact, love, hate, think...it is a comfort to think you can "just walk away" but our condition, being human and thoughtful, does not allow for this abandon...even if you say "I am different and I don't care", it is an impossibility to not have consequence and meaning in your life, as you may not even be aware of it to start with.

I think our lives are like rain drops in the ocean. It raises the ocean by 10e-6000000000000000000000000 and more zeros. Insignificant but get enough drops and you have a noticeable effect. Very few people will dent the fabric of history enough, so love someone. It's enough!

What we say is not meaningless. With words we can convey our feelings whether it be love, indifference or hate.
Love is more important than hate or indifference as we need to feel we belong in order to fill fulfilled and worthwhile or we can say to make life fulfilling and worthwhile.

So wise, and yet still trapped in the cycle of life. A circle of perfection, does it exist? Tick, tock.

Love is not all I have... I have this computer! (amongst other things).
Love and hate are not nebulous magical things - they are understandable and CONTROLLABLE emotional responses.
