They know exactly what to say or do to get to us, they know what will hurt us the most, they know when and where we are most sensitive and vulnerable and have no problem taking advantage, they expect to be forgiven and understood their every transgression against us. How can I trust strangers when the ones I love the most have hurt me the deepest? It is so very true, it is so very painful, all that from family. My Dad used to say that we were not a family in the real sense of the word we were just a bunch of people living together that had the same blood...sad

People we love can and DO hurt us the most.
One reason why we are (emotionally) hurt the most by people we love is because we actually care about their opinions (e.g. people tend to more interested in the ideas and opinions their loved ones have as opposed to the opinions and ideas of strangers). We, as human-beings, take to heart what our loved ones say.
Another reason that people we love hurt us the most is because they KNOW HOW to hurt us. They know us better than strangers do, and thus know what angers and upsets us. They can use this knowledge in a negative way and purposefully hurt us.
I hope this helps.

Yes because they know us better than anyone else. They know our weaknesses and strengths and we value their opinion...we have known them long enough to be able to give us a valid opinion. We could be offfended by comments made by someone who hardly knew us, but we would just pass it off like "Well, they hardly know the true me like some people do". I'm 40 and at this point in my life, I've realized that the only constructive criticism I will take into consideration is from people that have known me for a few years. Sometimes it takes a true friend to point out the truth to you, whether you like it or not...you will consider it and think about it. When you're older, I hope, that you will appreciate it and the fact that they were direct and honest enough to say those things. I believe that those certain undesirable comments have helped me to be a better person...because they were made by people that knew and loved me.

The greatest pain comes from those closest to the heart and thus are the greatest of betrayals for these are those to whom we have given our trust ; and so we build our walls higher and thicker and yet it is we ourselves that give the keys to our hearts away and when betrayed we are hurt the worst . . .

It is because most people in the world are not aware of the spiritual laws that govern our lives. We trust people blindly not aware that putting your trust and total trust in a person brings a curse with it. Jeremiah 17:7 plainly says cursed is the man that puts his trust in arm of flesh. The only person we are to trust in is God and God alone. You can't put your trust in your mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, or children, only God. So, in our relationships in dealing with other people our confidence has to run through God and then God can guide us in dealing with people we associate with. Otherwise, spiritual laws shows that if you put your hope and trust in people they will fail you and you will be dissappointed.

They say that because it is often true.....the people we love hurt us worse . Then a stranger would.Things hurt worse when it comes from someone that we love.
You will have to experience it before you understand it.

Oh yes, I think so anyway. We trust the people we love with every detail of our life. If their is a falling out, a part of your heart goes with the fall.

Think about this: would you cry more if your parents died or if a someone you didn't know exist die? The pain you feel is far worse from a loved one's death than some stranger's death.
