Happiness to me is knowing myself, my opinions, my emotions, just... who I am. All my unhappiness can be traced back to a lack of knowing who I am (though I think that can be applied to everyone).

There are other things, of course. Stability offers happiness, as well as feelings of closeness towards others, etc.

Knowing who I am. For example- we are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies. This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. We fell here due to envying Gods position. He made the material world for those who want to try to live separately from Him (Which is impossible because He is actually everywhere). After many lifetimes of trying to be happy in this temporary world one becomes frustrated and board and begins to question their existence. We then seek out real happiness, and when one becomes sincere God reveals how to come back Home. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which begins with the chanting of the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion), which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can give up all material attachments and fully surrender to God and return to the eternal Kingdom, where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com can be read on line. I am so glad I know who I am and what real happiness is now.

- the happiness is the heart that which is content with little things.
the hear that loves the simple life,
the heart from which there springs a sense of joy with each fresh day.
- a prayer of gratitude for the morning miracle of health
and strenght renewed.
- hapiness that builds about itself a shell of quitness,
- a happy heart that keeps its faith amidst dissaster and distress.
a heart serene.
- unmoved by envy, doubt, defeat or fear, filled with hope unfailing, rich in charity and fear.
no greater gift can be bestowed than this;
- the world becomes a better place when once we^ve learned the art of putting golden edges round the clouds that blow along, of turning sorrows into smiles and discords into song.

Happiness in times of loneliness and the inevitabily of death is only distraction. True happiness for me to find someone i love to love me back. To put this in a positive or negative artistic form.

Negative:
A man sitting in a box where the outside of the box is full of demons. A thought bubble pops up with a happy scene.

Positive:
A person standing on top of a lighthouse at sunset stretching. The world below him is alive and vibrant and at his/her side is his/her spouse.

Happiness is everything to me.

Having said that, I must define what I mean by happiness.... it is a tranquil and peaceful state of mind irrespective of any or all outcomes... there is a neutrality and stability here rather than positive excitement that subsides soon. Obviously, this kind of happiness can only arise with self-satisfaction and self-sufficiency of the mind.

Intact family, good health, comfortable home, good education, and steady income .

It wouldnt hurt to have great neighbors, friends, relatives, community, city, and country who are kind to each other and coexist in harmony.

Nature would be kind and not send storms, earthquakes, meteors, and famine nor pestilence.

Happiness is feeling completely safe, especially mentally. When I feel safe I don't question the things around me and then I am content and happy. I can let my gaurd down and appreciate all that is around me.
