There are people in this world whose courage, character and strength are so profound, that it's an example of how the human spirit can overcome seemingly impossible challenges, whether it be physically and/or emotional.

Have you ever known anyone personally or otherwise to have possessed such a quality in the face of overwhelming adversity? If so, why?

Why do you think only a few seem to rise to such challenges, whereas others seem to fail or simply give up?

is it the only way to bring about peace?

The US has watched countless wars go out of control.

Rwanada - 800,000 dead
Liberia - 200,000 dead
Sierra Leone - 75,000 dead
Somalia - they are still blasting each other.

Liberia was founded by freed American slaves. America did little, militarily, to quell the violence. Countless conflicts around the world have been allowed to fester while the US government abdicates its responsibility. Can this be morally justified? Is it just simply not our business?

The US gov (as well as the UN) allows problems to escalate into full scale crises and until genocide is reached.

What's your opinion?

I observe with many people, me included, that we are often in stress. We run and seem never have "enough" time. Or we feel we did not "enough".
Then comes this conflict between work and family. So if one works how can one look still properly after the family?
It is often a bit of a struggle, especially for woman.

Do you have some good suggestions, how to change this?

... of living? This isn't a question of suicide or anything like that. I'm looking for the proverbial 'meaning of life'. And I don't want a person's personal goals; I want an all-encompassing theory or philosophy explaining the existance of people. Thanks. <3

I find the most happiness in life's intangibles--a hug from my children,a summer breeze,my garden,etc....and yet I know so many people who just seem to live for getting that next new car or whatever material thing. Are we born this way or not?

im amazed by donnie darko but the only scary thing is, in the same way donnie seems to be detached from the world and empty sometimes, i am too, which is why i relate so well to it because i often look at the sky and wonder is any of it even real?
