Descartes famous solipsistic meditation "I think therefore I am". Designed to thwart even his tricky evil god which tried its darnedest to deceive the poor man of everything. He reasoned that there was at least one thing of which he could not be mistaken...his own existence.

I have noticed an ample sampling of Yahoo Philosophers who pull out Rene's old chestnut in a variety of situations, though within the world of academia, it has fallen from favor among somewhere between many and most. Perhaps its time to take a closer look at it...

Cartesians: What's so hot about this trite truism? Why do you agree, and what sort of questions does it answer?

Reneggers: Set them straight...Why is the famous phrase wrong? How has it been bastardized?

I've noticed since the last part of 2006, that it seems time has accelerated. Does anyone feel this way also? Or is it just because I'm older, busier and have 3 kids that require my attention ALL THE TIME? It seems when I sit to do projects or such, its like , I don't get a chance to catch up on my thnking and thoughts. Its like, I have no time to just sit and just relax, i feel I have to keep doing something.

Why do we live and then die? Why do some die young and others at older ages? Why are people afraid of dying? Why are people afraid of living? Is there life after death? Is there a life after the life after death? Would we remember our previous lives? Or do we just rest ourselves on our deathbeds like in eternal slumber? Do we dream in that eternal slumber? Or is everything pitch-black?

*You don't need to answer every one. I'd just like to know your viewpoint on this kind of subject. It's something that gets me thinking a lot.

I was reading on Wikipedia which stated that the full moon had little or no effect on humans...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_moon#Effects_of_Full_Moon
So in your opinion or personal experience, state whether you believe in this or not. Why or why not?
Which by the way the next full moon this month should be the 29th, make an observation whether it effects anyone in any way^_^...just for the hell of it.

Many artists like Vincent Van Gogh or Edvard Munch were believed to be insane. Many others, like Gaugin or Picasso were merely believed to be eccentric or "mildly insane." Would it be better, to "cure" an artist and run the risk of destroying what makes his work great, or should he just be allowed to experience his insanity?

(This is a question where it would be very difficult to slip in a Bible quote...so if you do...it better be a good one that's relevant to the question...though, come to think of it...since when has that ever mattered here?)

every single time that you have an experience, good, bad, or indifferent? I know that I personally gave up hundreds of thousands of dollars on my search over many years and that was my choice. Then I see people balk at paying out the price of a book, or a workshop containing all the info needed to get rapidly to this understanding being shared by a couple really fine individuals who have and are dedicating dozens of years of their lives (while having fun of course) to sharing this material with any and all who desire to learn about it and then in turn pass it on. So, once again, how much would it be worth to reach a place in your evolution (so to speak) where you could be fully in control of your driver`s seat?

Ignorance is bliss.
Chasing my bliss is proving other people wrong.

Chasing my bliss ends up destroying it.
Isn't that a paradox?

Why are the attacks becoming weaker and weaker against God? Is it because scientists are renouncing Darwinism as a valid source for the being of man kind?

Just curious, why are the attacks lessening on us poor lowly Christians??
