When the one projecting it believes him/herself superior or better than others.

When the person is more concerned with "being right" than the task at hand being done correctly.

Someone can be confident in their ability, but still be aware when someone else has done a better job or has a better idea. An arrogant person believes he is right despite evidence to the contrary. If an arrogant person is forced into admitting he is wrong, he is likely to make a big deal about
how "good" a person he is for admitting this; as if he expected you to give him some kind of award for that.

An arrogant person also is likely to declare how inadequate someone else is in what they do, even if they know nothing about the subject themselves.

Technically it would be when ones over confidence blows up in their face, or becomes a detriment to there own cause. It's like if a person was confident in their ability to drive a car at high speed. Technically as long as they can actually keep their car under control, even if it is at speeds of over 100, it is possible that they are justified in their confidence. It's not until they actually do get into an accident, or at least a narrow miss that you can say they were arrogant.

This question really boils down to one of my favorite George Carlin lines. "Ever notice how anyone who drives faster then you is crazy, but anyone who drives slower then you is an idiot?"

When others seem to be offended. Confidence is a good thing to have in your life. But arrogance is just to much and usually stops other from also gaining confidence

Personally, confidence becomes arrogance when you forget to consider others.

When your confidence overwhelms your interpersonal connections, and you neglect to nurture those relationships that keep you grounded, then you lose the ability to evaluate impacts or consequences. You become obsessed, selfish, inconsiderate and blinded.

When others see your confidence as an irritation rather than an admirable trait, then you are pushing the boundaries between confidence and arrogance.

Hmmm... That's a hard question. Sometimes confidence can come with pride without being arrogant but pride is leading you you there. Well my answer is - between confidence and arrogance there isn't a line but a thick wall - a thick threshold we call pride.

I think, when a person lost that inner confidence, to be quiet in any moment, knowing they are, and will be ok. Arrogance is not confidence. It displays a lack of confidence, which usualy precedes a fall.

I think zabrina hit on the right answer. Confidence is generous; it doesn't take anything away from anyone around you. Arrogance, on the other hand, is selfish; it maintains a sense of superiority relative to other people.

Arrogance is in the eyes of the beholder. Confidence is in the gut of the confident.

The two can dance and blow kisses, but it's an unrequited love.

When a person is super confident i.e. s/he is constantly staring at themself in the mirror or always saying how great they are, then it becomes arrogance. Sometimes I call this a superiority complex.

Confidence becomes arrogance when one's certainty of what one can accomplish exceeds one's ability to accomplish it.

That's one kind of arrogance. Another is when one's certainty develops into disdain for others: Even if one can do as one has predicted, hostility toward and belittlement of others becomes arrogance.
