I want to get a tattoo that represents the existential views I have but I can't think of anything that symbolizes the philosophy (considering how non-dogmatic it is). I was thinking of Sisyphus as a possibilities, but I can't think of how to exactly translate his image into a tattoo.

Any ideas on how to make a tattoo representative of existentialism (ie, symbols, images, quotes, etc.).

Peace?

Happiness?

Don't answer both of those words as one answer. Two separate answers please.

What do you think are the requirements for both? What causes both to be present? What causes one to stray from each of them?

I personally: I think they are linked. Can you guess in what ways? Think.

Your desire or your conscience? Like if, lets say...you were addicted to cigars, would your conscience win, if you told yourself, it can kill you if you continue? but your desire is there for it.

Fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, lightning, and other "acts of God" . . . By insuring their property -- especially church property -- against acts of God, do Christians (or other religions for that matter) mock the benevolence and kind graces of their diety?

Authority unchecked is a terrible thing. However, authority constantly challenged is made lame. We need leaders and authority in practiclly every area of our life. How do we rectify this problem? How should leaders be held accountable to the people they are serving while still leaving them the ability and freedom to walk out the unique vision they have? (Which is a critical thing for a good leader...)

Love(pertaining to fall in love with a mate and get married) comes from the fear of dying alone. (as quoted from Yellow Thunder Woman) Do you agree?

Or are we limited by what we can conceptualize and percieve? And, if so, aren't we saying that we are the highest intelligence in the universe? Maybe some other species can grind out answers faster than we can but we are capable of understanding anything they can?

Referring to inner peace, i would like some deep thoughts, and no criticizm, thank you..

Also, how about this as well....

I don't know how to put it in words, but it seems that most people never achieve inner peace, this is because they are always striving for more, and in the search for happiness.

~~~Don't you believe that Joy is more important?
I already have my own beliefs on the meaning, would just like to know if I'm the only one thinking in that perspective.
