i admire buddha, and learn a lot from him, but i find it too escapist for me. I want to enjoy the passions of life not escape into nirvana. But i guess it comes out of indian culture of the time, and that idea is a strong part of hinduism.
I prefer the idea of finding harmony and beauty in the world, and being natural. I guess i am a taoist.

There are two answers to that question. The ideals are great with an openness to other ways of thinking, and other religions. Said that, Buddhism IS a religion. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you are aware of that. There are people out there who claim that it is only a set of 'Philosophical questions and answers", but it is not JUST that. If you like to get involved in Buddhism, that's fine, but be aware that it is a religion.

Esoteric Buddhism rocks :) Actually, it has a lot to do with understanding how the mind works, and undertaking practices that help you to avoid the usual dramas, negativity, confusion, and unwisdom that haunt most of us most of the time where those insights are lacking.
Also, you don't need to really give things up, but, rather, put things in perspective, and act less from ego and fear, thus making your life easier, both for you and for those with whom you interact. Check out Tibetan Buddhism; very interesting :))

I'm pretty much a lifetime atheist, but if atheism were outlawed tomorrow punishable by death, I'd pick Buddhism. It has some nice teachings and is not as plagued by the level of extremism seen in the other major religions (xtianity, islam, judaism & hinduism). They also seem to be one of the few religions that actually walks the walk when it comes to talk of peace and "love thy neighbor."
Still, the concepts of khamma (karma) and reincarnation are, for me, no different from other religions' mythologies such as spirits, souls, and afterlifes. But purely from a philosophical and moral standpoint, Buddhism's OK.

I watched a childrens movie to give the teachiings of Buddhism. I found him similar to Jesus. They went on a quest to find answers and had been rewarded with life after death. I personaly would like to live now. Life is too short, and it takes all your life and those who love you a large amount of suffering and most never get the point, and some will even kill to proove your(they) are right. I say Budda Thank you I get it, but I am not strong enough to do this alone.

It really depends on what sect and which group you mean. There are sects that practice mumble jumble with the best faith healers. There are groups that study deeply and speak deeply and have contempt for the childishness of lay followers.
Shakyamuni went forth from his fathers palace to find a way to overcome suffering and his thoughts are still smacking into sloth, delusion, stupidity and ignorance. Once in a while there is a seeking spirit trying to civilize humanity.
Some of the monastic sects make all their money from weddings and funerals-gee that sounds like a church. Some of the temples sell trinkets and charms-gee that sounds like a street fair.
The best group I have found is SGI-USA. They give away the main truth right in the beginning and give you plenty of free help in your efforts to apply it. Even they are guilty of being over-anxious to connect and use terms derived from the Abrahamic traditions in order to seems non-threatening.

I find one of the best parts of Buddhism is that it teaches a path for the attainment of liberation right now, not only once the body dies.
