the world was here long before i was... and will be long after i'm gone. my only hope is that we don't change it so quickly and so permanently that harm will befall us and the other denizens of this planet.
and when you trust your television
what you get is what you got
cause when they own the information, oh
they can bend it all they want
climate change is demonstrated by the increasing severity of storms, droughts, and floods. the cause may be uncertain but the end result is quite clear: we must do what we are able, each of us in our own hearts and homes, to prevent further contamination and degradation of our resources and environment. the television says not to worry, everything will be all right. whose message is that? not mine: preventing climate change: can this be done in time, and sufficiently?
now we see everything that's going wrong
with the world and those who lead it.
we just feel like we don't have the means
to rise above and beat it.
unfortunately, i am watching and waiting to exhale, hoping we've been able to do our part, so that the world will not change. our legacy and our grandchildrens' ways of life are at stake now.
one day our generation
is gonna rule the population
so we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

I'd never heard it; I'm glad you asked it, & thanks Tia S for the link. As to do I think that's what most of us are doing? Yes. Sadly, I think the majority are "waiting" --for someone else to deal with it, or in denial that anything is wrong, i.e., global warming & more; or if it doesn't directly impact them, just don't care. Yet I see little glimmers of encouragement. I honestly believe that more people are being heard MORE. I was appalled by the vicous attacks on Al Gore's concerts, from people who hadn't even taken the time to inform themselves & accused him of wasting energy & so forth--while I KNOW this was carefully controlled. (Someone said it was just a bunch of aged hippies showing off--not on this site). What better way to make the entire world aware than by the concerts?? Does anyone read anything credible? Does anyone listen? I'm still uncertain. The Democrats have had the majority for such a short time, yet are being blamed for not performing miracles to clean up this abominable mess. There is so much needed right here in the U.S. Yet, replacing a dictator with chaos is costing more than I can comprehend, in money & lives. Sorry. Didn't mean to wax poliical, but isn't that the root of all of it? The "power" that dictates to the administration? I know many people who are doing the best that they CAN, & I hope more join them. A great song that makes one ponder--can we, will we do enough before it's too late?

Personally, I really do not like that song at all.
We shouldn't be waiting for the world to change - We should be making it change. The world is not going to change all by itself - there needs to be people who are willing to step forward and make a difference.
We can all make a difference - by who we vote for, the products we buy, what movies we see ... how we treat other people, how we treat the homeless .... There are hundreds of ways for one person to change the world.
Think of what would happen if people refused to buy any product that wasn't organic or from recycled materials - the people who make these things would do a 100% turn-around and make only products that were good for us and our environement. This is only one example.
Or think what would happen if every person volunteered 4 hours a month for a non-profit organization ... another example.
So it is foolish to sit back and wait for the world to change.
We need to step forward and make the changes ourselves.
And Remember at election time - get out and Vote !

Wow MC Hop N Bay I have almost the same problem. I got my account suspended for saying a stupid thing to some troll that asked "How do I watch live MLB on my laptop?" I wrote a huge long appeal with exclamation marks caps and also explaining how frustrated I was. Fortunately for me I got my account back today. I hate how Fransisco Lopez didn't get suspended for asking his questions when I got suspended for saying something like Your mom. Lol i don't remember what I said.

Oh yeahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! That is one of my FAVORITE songs of John Mayer. It's really upbeat and I just totally love it. The first time I heard that song, I was totally hooked!
Here's a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BodyfJ8M6Oc
Looks funny singing...haha...lol...
I kind of agree with the lyrics...but I also feel like I'm not just going to be "waiting on the world to change" forever! We should all feel that we CAN and WILL change the world for the better.
Anyway...nice question!

Things dont get turned. until somebody turns them. so if u are waiting on the world to change, you might wait forever. The world is in a mess. But what matters most is what you are doing about it. Get up my dear and do something about it in your own small way. Touch a soul! change a life! never wait for the world to change. you can make a change.

I dunno...it seems to me like a lot of people don't like change, and would prefer that the world remain the way it is, or even revert back to a simpler time. Fear of the unknown is strong in some people, and they would prefer the devil they do know--the present world with all its troubles--to the one they don't, a changed world.
Me, I'm not one of those. There's an ancient Chinese curse that says, "May you live in interesting times." I'm still trying to figure out why it's considered a curse....

yes I am waiting for the world to change. I would like to see a world where people are more compassionate towards other people feelings. A more caring world towards every living thing on this planet, a planet which should be cared for by us humans.

Yes I love the song myself. But if we wait on the world to change, it never is going to! We have to "be the change we wish to see in the world" (Ghandi).
You have a nice weekend too. Take care.

To me, anyone who is waiting around is not doing anything. If everyone just waited for the world to change nothing would happen.
