A hero isn't necessarily someone who does something daring, or life risking. Simply put, heroism is all perspective to the situation, and the people affected.
I like to see a hero as anyone who puts forth a sincere effort to help other people (Or animals, or the environment, and so on). It doesn' t have to be drastic, or spectacular. After all, if someone takes in an orphan, aren't they a hero to that orphan? Or if someone gives you a peice of advice that changes your life for the better, aren't they in a sense, a hero?
We like to think of heroes as being people who risk life and limb to save another person's life, and while this also qualifies as a hero....what really matters is the underlying motivation, and the effect.
Anyone who makes another's life better, in some way or another, is a hero.
Some people might rush into burning buildings to save children, and thus be qualified as a hero, but when they did it more likely than not their only concern was in aiding someone or something else. That's really what makes a hero.....the sincere desire, and action to help others.

Well you take a little of George S. Patton, mix in some Omar Bradley, Benjamin Disraeli, John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, a few of our founding fathers, and then add a little Augustus to it and Jesus and there you have him. That would be a true hero. Yep the word dose get used to much these days. I mean sports figures, and the celebrates of today just are not hero material in my book.

A hero is someone who has gained the recognition by others, for having done something extra ordinary, whether deserved or not.
This does not mean that other people haven't done something equally special, but some people just seem to attract praise.
The rest of us just carry on unrecognised.

Easy Peasy, someone who wears a mask and cape, can fly or jump off high builidings and float down. Preferably able to spin spider webs at will. Can see through solid object. Is very muscular. And, oh yes, has to have at least two identities. Being able to turn things to ice with a flick of the wrist, or throw flames the same way would be a great help. And it would much better if he had a side kick.
I think that covers it. Night night

a hero is manufactured by the media, they take an individual who has performed an amazing act, blow it all out of proportion and put the person on an ivory pedestal for us to admire and worship. It's a propoganda game. If you want to see a real hero, you don't have to look to far, most parents are the most selfless creatures on the planet and rarely even get a thank-you.

Someone who cooks or puts records on a turntable, apparently. How things have changed. All those heroes of yesteryear thinking: "f*ck-me! If I'd known that I could have been a hero simply by putting aparagus in a pan of boiling water, or by becoming a super DJ, I wouldn't have got me balls blown off at Dunkirk."

Two of the definitions that Webster's Student Dictionary uses are: 1) A person admired for their achievements & qualities. and 2). one that shows great courage.
My definition, personally is this...a hero is someone that I admire & look up to because of the impression that they make on me..Someone who lives what they say.... Someone who has a specific quality, or qualities,in their life that I would like to have or develop in my own personal life.

well see that's a tough one, cos i'd say someone who does a completely selfless act, but i reckon that's inpossible, cos you always get the good feeling inside, no matter how good the action was, you always get something back. so i suppose a hero would be someone who does a really good deed and then hits themself on the head so that they can't remember they ever did it. no good feeling. but that's a bit hit and miss cos you might hit yourself to hard/too soft or in the wrong place. you could die, or you could just faint and then remember it anyway. bummer!
