The Power of Now' is a beautiful book by Eckart Tolle. Have you ever come across it? It is a quitessence of entire philosophy of living in the present. Practical hints are given when followed, there won't be any stress. Peace will flow from inside, if you are intensely present in the Now philosophy.

Certain creatures are having poisons in different places. Man is poisonous throughout in the sense, his mind is polluted and each of his senses are poisonous. If the water in the water tank is contaminated, you will get same water whether in kitchen or wash or bath or toilet. Likewise when mind is contaminated, all senses reflect the same.

Hunger, sleep, shelter and mating are common to both human and animals. But man is endowed with mind and thinking fecility and intelligence. What really man achieve with the extra fecility. It seems he is mostly hoarding wealth, satisfied with enjoying earthly pleasure, He is greedy and selfish mostly. How you can say he is benefitted by the discrimination and intelligence.

We dream while we sleep. The dream seems to be perfectly real to you at that time. When you wake up you will realise that this dream is illusion. Likewise the so called waking stage is also a dream when you wake up in the reality of self. In deep sleep, there is neither body nor mind. In dream there is only mind which operates, which assume all the form, which illumine the dream world, with various sound, emotions, reactions etc. In the waking stage both the body, mind and senses are active.

The eye is an instrument of mind. If mind is absent while you look, no impression of vision is conveyed to your cognition. Likewise with all the sense organs, When your concentration is somewhere, you will not hear what others say. Which actually see, hear, smell, taste and feel. Think deeply before answering since there is a riddle in it.

What did Plato think? Who are big believers/starters of Constructivism? What are some good books that break it down without being too intellectual for a sophomore college student to grasp? What do you think of it?
I was using a basic example to figure out for myself. I dated a guy recently and he stopped called, I decided this was because I didn't share some similar interests as him. Then I realized that I had based all my actions on this decision of why he stopped calling but (most likely) it wasn't the REAL reason he stopped calling (the true reality) but the true reason is basically irrelevant because I created my own reality out of what I percieved and will never see him again. People do it all the time. This may seem like a shallow example but is this about right?

When I research subjects like evil, psychopathy, and sociopathy, the materials all suggest one thing:

People who work to their own gain are flawed, sick, unbalanced, prone to self destruction, etc etc.

I do not find this to be a self-evident statement.

It is true that someone who is willing to benefit themselves by the loss of others is a bane to "society." Of course the generally accepted social structure would be against such a person, as their unconstrained selfish actions deminish others.

But why is it assumed that a person who is cognizant of their selfish desires and actions and unconstrained by "morality" assumed to be so defective that they will damage themselves, become reckless, lose the ability to learn from experience or calculate risk, etc?

That might be true in many cases, but it seems to me that would be more the case where people lack self control and determination.

Is it possible to be "evil" and selfish while remaining rational and self determined?
