No. Why would you live forever if you did that to some baby?

No, the umbilical cord is not designed to last longer than 9 to 10 months. Also the heart valves change so that blood is no longer shunted through that route right after birth. You'd have to put some sort of needle into a vein to achieve life support (which already exists).

I'm.. not quite sure.

It's a bit odd, and unusually interesting... but humans eventually outgrow their umbilical cords and their belly buttons close up..
Plus, umbilical cords only last about a year.. maximum

Unless you're thinking about keeping the human in early development form.. If so, what would be the point?

When your umbilical cord is attached your brain is not yet fully developed so it would sort of be a waste..

But i am not sure how would this make you live forever.
