The eye is an instrument of mind. If mind is absent while you look, no impression of vision is conveyed to your cognition. Likewise with all the sense organs, When your concentration is somewhere, you will not hear what others say. Which actually see, hear, smell, taste and feel. Think deeply before answering since there is a riddle in it.

Hi Nagarajan,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by a "riddle," because you're question is fairly straight-forward; and so is the answer.

Yes, the input we receive from our sense is (for the most part) real, and not illusory. But of course, there are qualifiers to that.

One qualifier is that our senses are not universal. As Kant pointed out, we are always limited to knowing the universe by the limitations of our sensory organs. We cannot see ultra-violet light, but that doesn't mean it is an illusion. We cannot hear certain high-pitched sounds; but once again, they exist nevertheless.

Also, we have to take into account faulty and/or incomplete data. Our minds wonder, and we don't always pick up on all the data we receive. Or we may misinterpret the data.

It's a well known teaching technique in police acadamies (for example) to have a person run into a room full of cadets, and fire a weapon at the instructor and then run out the door. The students are shocked, and then the instructor jumps off the floor and asks the cadets to describe everything about the assailant. Invariably there are as many differing descriptions as there are students in the room.

Bottom line -- senses merely convey data -- but data is not information unless it is analysed and placed in context. The senses are limited, and our context-seeking minds do not always function well. Is this the riddle of which you spoke?

cheers, mate.

Yes that is true the eye is the instrument of the mind. It is also an instrument of the subconscious; though what is seen is not the same as what is seen with the conscious mind. I know there is a better way to put it I believe one could refer to it as the sight of the inner eye.

illusion, in so as what" has been conveyed" to ones mind is not the actual thing viewed or "seen".separation exists, one can not be two.the thought is not the thing.on the other hand, one might say it is real.it is real as an illusion.the person answering chooses the latter.

the information our senses convey to us, is real to us, if we accept the input and believe it,,,,,,,,,, its all relative to the person,,,,,,
we are able to ignore what our senses tell us,,,,, or able to add to and make us things, that our senses are really not telling us
