Like beauty, 'a waste of life' is in the eye of the beholder. There are a few things to consider here -
1) That the observer is part of the experiment. When it comes to your own life it's very hard to judge until it's over and then (depending on your belief) you either no longer exist or, in spite of all the films, you can't come back to change things. At 50, I can say that I have done some things I regret and have experienced somethings I wish I hadn't but they all made me what I am now, and now I'm happy. You can't get here till you've been there - if you know what I mean.
2) From the outside. I like to think about Tolkein on this one. To many people, Aragon (as Strider) was a shifty, untrustworthy 'loser' when he was actually a king. Tolkein said, "All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost".
3) I'm a Babylon 5 fan and I love what was said about the Universe and us. We (and you, Jkey ) are a fragment of the universe, you are part of the Universe trying to understand itself. Or as Carl Sagan said, "We are star-stuff'. You are not a waste of life. There is no such thing. Try not to compare yourself to others. Try to remember what it was like before you began to do that, when you were a child. We are all special in some way whether the world recognises it or not.

soon enough your exitence will end, about 60 years or so. No body knows why were here?......sure you do, same reason a plant busts out of its shell sucking in water and growing and growing until you don't anymore. it makes no difference if you live or die but why waste what you have for the next 40 years or so, enjoy it while it lasts. there is a whole lot of nothing to come in your future soon.
grow a plant from a seed and watch the wonders
then realize that there are millions of seeds that never get planted, they get thrown away, discarded. You didn't get thrown away. You swam against 3 million other sperm and beat them all. survival instincts fade when survival is not important, your gaurenen teeed to survive these days till your 80, now if you had only 1 years left in your life, you'd live differently, cuz you'd think about your end coming soon and you'd run away however you could, meaning staying alive for the longest. Whiat till your 40 and thining about death coming even sooner, thats the 'midlife' crisis, knowing your halfway done and you didn't have any fun yet. then you can go nuts.
your just stuck in a rut called im not worried about death cuz it seems fake to me at this point. have someone close to you die and you realize how little time you have left. have fun be good and party hard, whatever your version of party is, DO IT!

The answer of the questioner is very typical. It provides two meaning or answers. The first one can be taken as answer is that by the mercy of Almighty God you have taken birth on this earth and ones duty is to remember God.Or one should do such work or follow such path which can be beneficial to the human being such as to help needy person who wants your help etc.Although, to follow such path or do work of humankind is also the way to remember God. Secondly, if you do not carry your life in such work then such thing or phenomenon of life can be said as waste of life due to the fact animals also carry their life without doing any such stated above work. This can be only difference between person and animal.

Yes, there is such a thing as a waisted life. Everyone has a purpose to be on this earth. But sometimes it isn't that clear as to what it is; or we just don't see those things as easy, so we give up or don't even try.

No! There's a difference between wasting your life and a waste of life. If you're feeling down though helping others always cheers me up- so maybe you can do some volunteer work in you're community tomorrow. Its a way to feel better about yourself while making a difference in others lives.

Everybody thinks that sometime in their life. And we think it again and again at times. Nobody has the right to tell another person their life is a waste. There's gobs of people crippled for life who can't feed themselves or toilet themselves, you know you would never tell them their life is a waste. When your older you will see clearer how precious any life form may be to someone elce. Probally the closest waste of life to me would be a control freak abuser, someone whose life mission seems to be to make people absolutely miserable.

There is no such thing. You have a purpose in life. You probably just haven't figured it out yet. You are unique and beautiful.

Drugs, meaninglessness, alcohol, psychiatry -
these things "make a person a waste of life".
It is never the individual who creates that idea of or for themselves, but what they have been talked into believing as a 'fact' about themself.
It's always a lie but as one decends more and more into the lie of it they more and more believe themselves to be worthless and hence abuse themselves to the point of death if not death itself.
It is never ever truth in fact - only the gullible, ignorant follow through with dramatizing it as a 'fact' to prove it to others.

it's only a waste if you knowingly disregard and turn away from what you know to be right or what god says is right, and do nothing to amend it or make a return to the right path.
now this is different from people telling you that you aren't meant to exist in terms of their own personal opinion. people will always try to cut you down whether intentionally or not. sop if that's the case, ignore it.
it's up to you to figure out what's right and to do the right thing. talk to friends or your pastor in church for guidance.

Dont waste time deciding who is 'worthy' to live. Someone else decides for us. Until that time just chill. We are all in the same boat. Imagine yourself to be in a waiting room of a Doctor's clinic & you have to wait your turn. What do you do ? Help the time pass quickly by reading the 'outdated' magazines put there.
That's what life is ...one big waiting room.
Enjoy...life is one big party !!!
