the past is knowledge and knowledge is a necessity, one has to survive.food shelter and so on.our minds are influenced by what we have learned and have "known"therefore knowledge will always be the past.is the mind capable of existence without inner conflict?one must observe this question for oneself.observe it without the judgment ,without wanting this only causes conflict.disorder can not be solved through conflict.just look around.has any thing really been solved by war?not for just a single nation, but for all of mankind?nationalism causes war.
to seek means to look and one only looks with a pre-conceived evaluation, which is knowledge, which is past.to look without judgment or the wanting to know, just as it is for the moment, without past, present of future,is truly what mankind has over looked, and one of the most simple and beautiful wonders that we will continue to blind ourselves to.

Tolle has done noting new in his book. Hindu philsophy had revealed thousands of years ago about the value of present

as per hindu philosophy, the past and future are the creations of mind

The only true moment in cosmos is present...and those who learn to live in present..become one with the Universal soul (god)

I'm living in the present now, coz I've been living in the past for a while & it's hard in a way... life gets worse as time goes (tht's what happens to me). Living in the past makes it worse as I feel more depressed & sorry for myself as time passes by. Living in the present is the solution for now, but living in the future I think is the best way, which is not very easy. Don't try to hold onto yur memories too much, it'll slow u down & do more damage in real life. Keep the good memories in the pocket to think about them sometimes, and erase the bad ones. Live in the present first & then try thinking about future. That'll be my piece advice to u.

The events of our past life experiences have prepared us for Now and Now prepares us for the future. Yes, we must live in the now in order to live in our full potential. There is nothing wrong with tapping into past experiences which support our Now platform and act as a springboard to tomorrow...balance is the key. Stress free is something I agree with...very attainable when we approach life humbly and with wisdom.

while i see benefits from living in the moment,,,,,,, and not being overly concerned about the past or future,,,, it , to me, takes a combination of it all,,,,, resolving your past and making it a part of you,,,,, living and paying attention to today,,,,, but also looking towards and planning for your future,,,,
but yes, if someone is so into the past,,,, or too focused on the future that they are ignoring the present,,,,,, then they would need to concentrate more on the present,
but i wouldn't say the past and future are irrelevant,, they are where you have come from, and where you are going,,,,,,,, like any trip,,,,,, you want to review and plan your route,,, besides just driving today

Hmmm.. I thought the Eckankar movement was over. All Tolle did was repeat other writings and teachings. To live in the Now is very difficult for most people. For me, it took a major catastrophe to wake me into Now.

Present is what you live for away from past and making tomorrow today when morrow comes .I second your thoughts , but past is our teacher and future is our child which we have nurture with our take of the present .

Is it OK theory for you ?
