I’ve analyzed my personal belief system, which I have named Anti-Conscientious Vehicularism, and as a result have come to the conclusion that I can no longer in good conscience stop at stop signs or red lights. Don’t try to talk me out of it…I will NEVER change my mind. Everyone has their own belief system and has to determine what’s right for them independent of other people’s fascist control. If you don’t like my decision to ignore stop signs and red lights, keep it to yourself. It is MY truth and all other considerations be damned. You got a problem with it?…You don’t have to run stop signs! Just watch out for me when you’re driving…any accidents will be YOUR fault because you have now officially been notified of my beliefs and must make any and all modifications to your behavior to accommodate it. If you try to take me to court for causing an accident, I will win because there is no right or wrong…there is only what each individual wants to do.
Happy Driving! Happy Holidays!

"For my part, when I consider that in dreams I do not often nor constantly think of the same persons, places, objects, and actions that I do waking, nor remember so long a train of coherent thoughts dreaming as at other times; and because waking I often observe the absurdity of dreams, but never dream of the absurdities of my waking thoughts, I am well satisfied that, being awake, I know I dream not; though when I dream, I think myself awake."

I'm giving a CD to a former student for Christmas. I'd like to include a killer quote in the card- something girl-powerish and inspirational (not necessarily Biblically inspirational). I've got a couple from Maya Angelou in mind, but so far nothing has spoken to me as being the one. Do you have any quotes that are particularly moving to you?

A motto at our school is "Make it a great day, or not, the choice is yours" I disagree with this statement because whether or not the day turns out great is often times not up to you. So this leads to other things, is your life preset or do you make it. Are there certain things in your life that are out of your control?
And for people of religion, if God knows the future, then how are we supposed to make a choice that has already been made? Is that freedom of Choice?
I know the answers but I would like to observe the input from various people with differing ideas. Answer with details please!

Everyone says "have no regrets" or that they don't have any but I'm a firm believer in that people that say that are either to egotistical to realize that there are things they have done to people or something that might be regretable or to stupid to see what things there are....... Besides how are we to grow and learn without mistakes and regrets? What's your opinion???

Contemporary continental philosophers agree that personal identity and subjectivity are not grounded in a transcendental self as a substance that defines an essential human nature.

BRIEFLY describe either Michel Foucault or Paul Ricoeur's understanding of self and subjectivity in terms of the implications that follow from their thought on how we should live our lives .
